New audio surround

With the new audio engine my surround is horrible, i use headphone for many years and the sound was great before but now is unplayable with the current audio surround, i got a audigy 2, plz fix this.

You may need to change drivers, or possibly something else, since this is a totally different sound handling than we used to use. The new sound engine is much better than the old one, and fixed many bugs we couldn't get right with the previous way things were handled, so we cannot go back.

First thing you have to do when reporting is hardware/software specifications, as without these we cannot know where your problems lie, and since most players are getting the benefits of the new sound engine you should be able to as well, but not without some changes, as such is the price of progress.

So please include the specifications we need to assist you, and we will make every effort to do so. You might also visit the Support Forum for Windows as many who do can get their issues squared away without a lot of effort.

Is your device driver set up for headphones?

If it is set for 5.1 surround and you are using 2.0 stereo output devices you are going to miss 4 channels of audio.

Please let me know. I am trying to track several similar reports.

Also relevent to sound there seems to be on my end atleast when being strafed whilst in a panzer the audio just seems weird, maybe intended change i dont know, just sounds bad imo, cant quite describe the sound so next time m in ill try and fraps it.

Im using onboard audio on a p7p55d-e mobo which is (VIA VT1828S 8 Channel HD Audio)

I fixed it with enable EAX sounround in my audio setting

Can i ask if is it normal that in the "sound options" there aren't no more the options "software/hardware sound" and "32/64/128 sounds"?

no those options are no longer relevent to the new way sound is modeled

Xaudio determines (or tries to in some cases) what your sound device is and what the settings are. That's the hardware/software from the old stuff so it is no longer used.

Xaudio also determines how amnhy sounds your device can play simultaneously so we no longer have that setting either.
