DAC engine bug

After driving around and repositioning a number of times and turning engine off and on a few times...all of a sudden the engine will not start. Starter motor can be faintly heard turning over and gear selection info on the upper left of screen turns on and off over and over but engine will not restart.

This happens with regularity to the point of every mission if one lives long enough

Happens to me all the time also. The gear indicator on the upper left shows neutral and flashes , while the engine is in still trying to start . Neither E or gear shift affects it , it just keeps turning over trying to start until I despawn .

This is not just from this patch but has been happening for quite a while ..maybe more so this patch .

Add the Pz3H to the list.

This doesn't seem to be side specific.

I suppose it could be one of the 'wtf' experiences in the game. Many of the vehicles of that era would have had trouble starting their engines. Going back to the 60's, I can still remember my old man trying to start his car on a cold, damp morning. So I suppose CRS could argue that all they're doing is simulating a vehicle having a mechanical problem.

welcome to the old axis stug engine bug :D

axis have to "live" with that kind of bug for years now ... pretty annoying when you are in a STUG because you cant turn your tank anymore then

I have that bug occasionally since I play this game on any vehicle on spawn in.

Never happened though while driving around.

it isn't reliant or specific to any vehicle (although it is assumed that it is by players) but in fact of a global nature, ie: it would affect vehicle "engines" but cannot be specific to one vehicle because they all use the same code for this. Data that makes them perform differently does not affect starting and stopping of engines

having said that ... we don't deny any of the reports of this that have occured in the past, we have simply stated (and will do so again) that until we can replicate it on demand, we will never find the bug

so far (including right now) actually replicating this on demand (so that we can look at what the code is doing when it happens) still eludes us, ie: it won't do it on demand

if you can replicate this by some reliable means, tell us how you do it

not random, I mean "do this, it happens" ... the fact that it only ever happened here once (at random and then defied attempts to recreate it on demand) in several years is why we have never solved this riddle

I will take clear notes on the next time DOC but this is from a half dozen or so recent occurrences:

First, it only ever happens to me in the DAC. Has never happened in other allied armor.

It happens on a high percentage of DAC sorties

It happens on longer missions where I have driven and stopped/started a few times.

It almost ALWAYS happens just after spotting an ET at long range (where you would need to sneak in to close the distance to be effective) ;)
