#5330 - Why I will be playing Axis . . .

I have played this game off and on for 6 years now. I have played every unit on both sides for countless hours. I mostly enjoy ATGs and being in the air. I recently (before resubscribing) upgraded my graphics on my computer so I now play games with eyefinity on 3 screens with a resolution of 5760x1080. Once I came back to the game it made a world of difference. I had to upgrade the rest of my computer to keep up with eyefinity. I subscribe 2 accounts whenever I play so that I can tow or do other nifty things I think of (on the same side as the other account).

You can say it, and I will say it . . . I am now spoiled. I tried going back to 1 screen and feel frustrated with it. It doesn't add much advantage since the side screens get stretched, BUT its just the game immersion you get from it; having most of your field of vision filled with the game.

. . .

This brings me to my point. On the axis side I have no problems using eyefinity. On the allied I have this . . .

deployed gun sight view of 57mm and 6 pounder (these photos are cropped to fit onto the forum)

50% of the time I can't see through the 57mm and 6 pounder atg optics. You can see the ring of the outer edge of the optics but nothing rendered in the middle. I usually have to redeploy and wiggle the controls to get something to render, and thats not always a guarantee. I have died and also let ets get away due to this eyefinity bug. These 2 atgs are a big part of the game. There are no problems on the axis side.

I have tried the guns on my computer at a normal resolution (1920x1080) and they do work fine, so I know its something to do with the larger resolution.

Regardless, the 2 main reasons I play the game are for flying (which I don't mind flying on either side) and for atgs. Given that I can't use the 57mm/6pounder, if I want to stay allied I must use this . . .

So yes! I am spoiled now! Damn myself for having to get a new toy. Bye bye (again) allied. Hello again axis.

(I am not mad at or blaming CRS. The % of the playerbase using eyefinty must be small. I can not expect them to make the game bug free for eyefinity when they always have other bugs to work on)

S! 23rd, I will miss you.

All the Tier 1 ATG's have a gunsight problem in ultra widescreen. Only if you elevate the gun too far though.

Really? Never had a problem with a pak38 yet. But even on flat ground I get the problem with the allied atgs.

Allied guns deploy with their gun pointed slightly elevated. On my 5760*1200 screen, any elevation above what the gun deploys at blacks out. IE. I can't shoot at any targets elevated above ten = 20 deg. Only really a problem in hilly areas.

Looks like the Pak38 is fixed... but both Allied Tier 1 guns aren't.

Guess I better go submit a bug request again.

Did that twice now, but no biggie. I understand that it will be near the bottom of the list.

Not near the bottom of the list just waiting for an issue to be reported. I run 3840 x 1024 on a Matrox but I have an Eyefinity capable card.

I just need to order some adapters to switch it over. Will try to test in the coming week.

Bump this in a week or so and I'll give you a status report.

I don't see this on my Matrox.

Is there a specific set of steps to replicate?

Ticketed.

I use a XFI ATI 5850 on 3 1920x1080 screens. This gives me a resolution of 5760x1080. I'll have to try different resolutions, etc. to see if I can figure out when it happens. I bet its just at the super wide resolution. I know it doesn't do it if I just run it at 1920x1200 or 1920x1080.

I use a 5850 on 3 x 1280 x 1024.

I know that some stuff scales to the height and some to the width. I wonder if it is extra bad on 3 widescreen monitors. At some point there is likely to be some funkiness that we'll just have to live with on these crazy setups but if I can replicate it then I might be able to find a quick fix.

No problem. May be fixable or may not. I can live with it. Loving being on the axis side again :)
