Since probably last update I have been getting major Audio problems.

It affects greatly my gameplay and I get it on Infantry, ATG/AA and Tanks.

In infantry I cant hear close ei fire around 50m, It's also common to lose some of my audio shooting.

Inside a tank I cant hear exploding shells falling near my tank with hatch open and even on the position of commander.

On AA from 100 fire rounds I probably just hear 30 and I dont hear EA close to my position flying over me.

Please fix this it's greatly affecting my gameplay, immersion and fun.

Best Regards

I can't remember where I was, think it was an airfield battle, but had a very weird experience that was similar, think just yesterday. Lots of sounds were cutting out and even when I fired my rifle I heard nothing (though then I would hear it sometimes).

In normal game play, every now and then I miss hearing a shot or two, but quite rare, however, that time it was very noticeable. This has only happened once to such a great extent that I know of.

Same answer as on any of the other soundbug reports.

1. Turn on game

2. Play game

Those are the steps, its not a specific act thats doing it.

Reason i stopped playing was that i couldnt here anything either.

Only thing i do here is to check the bugs forum once in a while to look if the bug is gone so i can get back in game.

I found it got worse after you switched sound engine, the patch that made sound bad for some headphones if you remember that one.

You MUST have noticed this ingame................

Im using Jabra BIZ 620 USB headphones btw.

Another soundbug that probalby havent been fixed is the one where you choose a seconday souncard (my headphones) in the game settings, but the game use the primary soundcard anyway... So i manually have to go into the controllpanel and swap drivers everytime.

I think the new sound is limited to 20+ sounds not the 128 like before. In crowded locations I almost never hear my bofor firing anymore when there is a lot of action.

Hi There

Can't we be a bit more systematic about this.

The problems appeared with the new sound engine. Thats a fact

1. Make several pools like

Do you have the problem that you seem to be missing sounds ?

If so only when playing inf and/or guns and/or tanks and/or boats and/or planes ?

Do you use stereo or 5.1 or 7.1 ?

Which sound device are you using ?

2. Do you have volume problems

If so are sounds from close units to high or to low or all the same level?

If so are sounds from far units to high or to low or all the same level?

Have you found a workaround or setting that solved it for you?

3. Make testing sessions on the training server trying to replicate the problems as I myself have several problems.

Example currently my problems are.

I hear far units to close when playing inf.

In any vehicle where I have a throttle all sound levels are dependent on my

throttle setting.

If I have full throttle I hear all sound levels as being to high and too close

If I have low throttle I hear all sound levels as being to low and too close

I miss hearing my own gun firing where before the new sound engine I

never had this problem but I can hear the bullets hitting the target at 300

meters and more. yeah I know handy but it sucks.

4. Please rats explain if any of the prformance settings have any impact on the max amount of sounds available ?

Just throwing problems in here is of no use since Gophur can't replicate them so it seems clear.

He can't not replicate the enviroment where it happens maybe due to to few units generating sounds in his test enviroment

He does not have the HW available nor the information from players to setup his client correctly.

Cheers

First Let me tell I already send a number of ingame reports some more detail than others. Second I already told most of those things in previous posts and in other topics only need to read and compile mentally.

The problems appeared with the new sound engine. Thats a fact.

(It's really worst with the last audio update that should had fix things, to tell the true before this last audio update I wasnt getting any major audio problems, so please compare both Audio Updates and cross reference see if anything pops up something is definitely missing)

Do you have the problem that you seem to be missing sounds ?

- I loss + than 70% of sounds on big battles(every single one of them) and 40% to 70% of my own audio, but then this doesnt happen only on big battles in happens on big cities even on mole attacks(to big cities).

If so only when playing inf and/or guns and/or tanks and/or boats and/or planes ?

I only play has Inf, Guns and Tanks In happens on ALL of this units mention has I said in reports and previous posts

Do you use stereo or 5.1 or 7.1 ?

I dont know where Can I see that?

Which sound device are you using ?

Already Said MotherBoard SoundCard REALTEK HD AUDIO OUTPUT

2. Do you have volume problems

It's more about missing sounds not volume and its difficult to know if there is a volume problem if you dont know what you are really hearing and how far it trully is.

Have you found a workaround or setting that solved it for you?

NO!

On small battles 5 vs 5 It's seems than the audio works fine.

4. Please rats explain if any of the performance settings have any impact on the max amount of sounds available ?

The only time I saw something similar in the past was when the game was set to 32 sounds but now I can't switch back so I dont really know the values.

If a Rat need more info tell me what and how to give the necessary information. I wont resub even with a new update if I keep experiencing this problems.

Same problem here. In bigger battles a few sounds get cut off when playing as infantry. Seems that the number of sounds is very limited.

Using, like quite a few ppl, the Realtek HD Audio ALC892 (onboard - Asus P8P67 Pro), Stereo setup (using Headphones), 16/24 Bit setup doesnt matter, 48000/44100 Hz doesnt matter, using latest audio driver (R2.60) on a Windows 7 Ultimate Machine

Yeah this is likely the sound device hitting the wall on the number of sounds it can play simultaneously and Xaudio not playing the ones we would want it to.

I hear far units to close when playing inf.

What does that mean? A ALL units far away sound close. So if I get on the server and spawn an infantry and drive a truck away from him his engine sound will get louder? As the truck drives away and the infantry fires every five seconds the gunshots will get louder?

There is basically nothing in that statement that I can test.

In any vehicle where I have a throttle all sound levels are dependent on my

throttle setting.

Expected functionality. The bug associated with turning your engine off at full throttle and having sounds stuck in the lowered volume has been fixed for 1.34.

I miss hearing my own gun firing where before the new sound engine I

never had this problem but I can hear the bullets hitting the target at 300

meters and more. yeah I know handy but it sucks.

Bug. This seems to be from choosing the number of sounds to play. For instance if I go and park a plane over a big AA emplacement and try and fire an smg I only hear a few of the bullets.

I'd do some testing but the beta is fubar atm for some reason...

4. Please rats explain if any of the prformance settings have any impact on the max amount of sounds available ?

None. In fact if you have something like this in your .xml file it might be causing an issue.

I hear far units to close when playing inf.

What I get is audio from far units instead of those close to me, the unit can be infantry, gun, plane or tank this happens to enemies too which is more noticeable because I have to be trying to identify enemy audio in order to know how to approach it.

When the audio is missing from close units I could swear Im getting only 32 max sounds. (THIS HAPPENS ALMOST ON BIG BATTLES OR WHEN THERE ARE MANY UNITS GENERATING ALOT OF SOUNDS)

BTW i think vonkurt was more exemplifing how to report to a rat on his post I got the idea he was not really getting the bug but more how to report it?

I will be playing BGE just to report on this then will update the first post with info, I would advice gophur to play online when there are big battles going on with infantry rifleman :)

Gophur:

I cannot hear anything in a truck with the engine off, with it on I can hear some things. (I have posted this already and you can't replicate)

As infantry the AAA seems to be overwhelming the sound to the exclusion of other sounds. The factory towns being the worst at the end of camp 69.

As infantry the preference seems to be to hear things further away than closer to me. I might be hearing opels and tanks over footsteps or infantry gun fire. The bigger the battle the worse it is.

I will play around some more with the sound settings in game. I have turned them down so perhaps I will turn them up. Limited functions in the current game but still might be something to do with that???

I am running onboard sound - realtek with the latest drivers.

Just am retuning to game but when I logged in there was no sound whatsoever. I have a SB x-fi and am running XP. tried downloading latest driver but it failed because it does not support XP. driver is version 6.0.1.1347

I had the same problem with low audio volume when in a tank with commander up. The sound level when I was despawning in 3rd person view was like a factor of 2x higher then with commander up in a tank. In the game settings I had my sound settings set to my speakers (which I use). Just for the heck of it I switched the sound setting in game to primary sound driver (which I see many say not to do after browsing these forums) and low and behold my tank commander when up can now hear just as well as when im playing infantry. I'm not sure this will help everyone but it fixed my problem.

My specs, Intel quad processor with a SB audigy 2 Platinum running the latest released creative drivers.

So settings showed your speakers but not the SB Audigy 2 Platinum?

What was the wording exactly and what are the speakers? I'll try and replicate.

In Game Under Pref-Sound-Soundcard I had the setting set to "Speakers(Creative SB Audigy 2 ZS)" and was experiencing low sound volume with commander in tank when he was up but good sound volume when playing as infantry. I set it instead to "Primary Sound Driver" and it now has the same good sound volume as I have when playing infantry along with having a tank commander up.
