Hey,

i got a problem with the game. I've didn't played it for a longer time (1.3.2) and now i wanted to play 1.3.3.

I've downloaded the game from this website, and installed it. I can run the launcher with admin access and compatiblity mode. The launcher is trying to launch the game and i can see for a short time a black screen. After 1-2 seconds I'm back on my Desktop.

My computer:

Windows 7

Dual Core 1,8 Ghz

6 GB RAM

NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250

The WW2_Log says:

1st and foremost have you updated your vid drivers?

The game will not load on the win7 provided drivers.

Check that vid and sound drivers are up to date.

Renderer: GDI Generic

This means the game did not find a valid opengl driver to play with, so the OS provided this generic driver which does not play the game.

Sometimes this happens when the driver is broken or incorrectly installed.

Note that the nVidia drivers for the 250,260,270 are not very good so you might need to try installing newer or older driver versions until something works.

From our stats I'd say most of the driver issues are caused by one of these 3 video cards.

interesting comment about nvidia drivers and I agree completely.

but I would add that if for some reason you do not run the setup application before trying to launch the game, it will immediately go titsup. Just a thought.

In the future the game will note the GDI Generic driver and refuse to run along with a message. I think MS does this so the whole computer doesn't crash (the generic driver is good enough for UI but not for any 3d game). Why a driver stops working / installs incorrectly is a mystery only MS knows...

It likely means that in the settings application you didn;t select the video card you are using or as AHWulf points out you don;t have a vide card driver installed correctly.

If you need some detailed instructions on that don't hesitate to ask.
