Panzer burning

Yesterday at Orval AB, the germans were trying to launch an offensive on our FB, which we just retook in the middle of thier attack. I drove my panhard up 1k into town and was having a good time. LT COL Panzer spawned a 4D and started driving to me out of the AB. His panzer had flames/smoke coming out of the turret and from behind the turret. I though maybe someone sapped him, but there were no other friendly's around. I didnt relocate my pan due to me thinking his crew was deep fried, but then he stopped and started shooting me. For some reason, when he spawned, his panzer was burning. Looked like a bug that didnt effect him. Anyone else see something like this yet?

This is not a new bug, this been around along time. Was supposed to of been fixed a while back.

I've see it. A few times but not nearly as often as in the past

This happens so rarely but it's impossible to catch it with a debugger. Looked at it several times but it's one of those bugs that is a subtle combination of rare events so nothing stands out in the source, you have to catch it to figure it out.

The above post is hogwash. Bugs can be found (and fixed) if the game developer devotes time to locating and fixing it.

Sadly, half rate games don't bother investing time on fixing longstanding bugs unless it stands to make its game developers loads more cash.

Lets use LotRO as an example. Freep (Allied) PvP faction has a bug... and it goes months even years without being addressed let alone fixed. Creep (Axis) PvP faction has a bug... and it's fixed within ten days/two weeks. Know why that is? LotRO is a PvE game and it's PvE side gets 99.999999999% of the game developer's attention/time... whereas its PvP side is thoroughly and utterly neglected save for when it benefits the Freep faction.

^ That right there is a sure fire recipe for making one's game fail. Which LotRO PvP has been doing for some time now... as its PvP player population is about 20% of what it used to be two years ago. Does this remind anyone else of another MMO PvP game we know about around here?

Not all bugs can be fixed by a snap of your fingers - if you can't reproduce a bug you likely can't fix it. It's not like this is the only work there is and unlimited time to do it either.

If someone can find a repeatable way to have this bug happen then it will be fixed. In any case it doesn't affect gameplay other than being freaky to look at.

The long standing shaking bug took forever to fix until (1) I discovered I could get it leaving firebases outside of areas where there were AI AAA firing at a distance. (2) Martini got it to happen while working on something else in the debugger and noticed a bad value in the ammo data. We worked on that forever without progress until catching it randomly. Fixing it took 2 minutes. Finding it took a year. Some bugs are like that.

Anyone have any word on that nasty engine bug that use to haunt my stug and 4g.... u know, u would shut the engine off, and u went to start it back up, and just a low idle, smoking, out the back, tank wouldnt move... gosh, i use to hate that. It happened to me in a panhard last campaign... Please tell me that bug has been fixed.
