freezing at 5760 x 1200 resolution??

im using 3 monitors running 5760 x 1200 res the game seems to run ok apart from every few seconds it freezes for a second or 2

any ideas what could cause this?

iv tried gfx drivers (5870) iv tried sound drivers (realtek onboard sound) the game is totally unplayable iv tried to fly 5 times and all 5 times its frozen and thrown me into the ground

I don't have your setup but had a similar experience of freezing after my video drivers auto updated. I rolled back to an earlier version and all is well now.

I'm running 3840 x 1024 on a 5850. I don;t see this but I don;t have the latest drivers either.

Have you tried playing on "best performance" settings to see if that helps?

I wonder if 5760 x 1200 is too wide for something in the code. I've never seen that many pixels across.

Thats an extremely high resolution. What is your framerate like? Try dumbing down the resolution and see if that helps performance.

For example, I'm running 3x1680x1050. In 1680x1050 single monitor my framerates are ~ 200+. But when I run 3 screens I average about 60 fps. Thats on a 2600k on sli'd 470's.

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if a) the driver is the issue and your res is too high for your computer to render without pauses from time to time.

Edit: I realize SLI does nothing in this game, but it is a prerequisite for Nvidia surround. Any way to work with Nvidia/ATI to get better support in future for multi card configs?

I run the same resolution as the OP, but I 'll say I'm using the ATI 6950 for clarification, and I can get 200+ frame rates out in the boonies,

and then drop to the 20's in a busy town.

My drivers were the 5/11 (May 2011) and everything worked great until the 6/11 (June) update.

The 6/11 drivers caused me to have similar stepping as described by the OP.

I went back to the 5/11 drivers and the stepping cleared, so I'm still using the 5/11 drivers.

Now, since the 7/11 (July) drivers are out, I'll try those to see if the stepping returns or not, and know that I can go back to the 5/11 if it does return.

I run 5760 x 1200 with a 5870 [1gb] and an Intel I7 920 @ 3.8 ghtz.

No problems.

I strongly suspect your problem is the Catalyst 11.5 drivers which cause exactly the 'freezing' problem you describe in WWIIOL.

Use 11.4 and you should be fine.

Hi Gophur do me a favour. Spawn stu offline go to bow machine gunner zoom in.

Seems the left and right screen should be blacked out. I got better vision than in a plane
