Can't see where my 88 shells land past ~2500m and are unable to see targets from what i've observed. You can see boats, but not enemy tanks or ATGs.

Funny thing is, it never used to be that way. You can see where you shells land when you're in a destroyer.. but not an 88.

no land units can see the the tracers or explosions further than 2500m something something.. but you can still "hit" the enemy tanks and will see an impact hit if you do hit but hard since u cant range by impact hits.

and DDs can see their explosions because they need to see 6km in naval battles.

It has always been this way, the destroyer got it's visual range enhanced like in 2007 or something like that, so it can infact see further than ground units IIRC.

No it has not always been this way. Last time I play a lot of atg'ing in the past and present. I came back just because i've always had so much fun doing it. Set up a tow account and tow your self around, doesn't get any better than that, except when your 88 isn't able to see where the rounds land. I KNOW before I stopped playing a while back that this wasn't an issue because I was killing enemies from 2000-3000m away. Even further. I was talking to someone else about this issue in game and he said he was having the same problem. If you limit the 88's distance than you're basically breaking the game play for that vehicle type. The thing is so big, anyone can spot it and is an infantry magnet. That's why it's a gun that needs to be set up at long distances so you don't have much of a threat from infantry. That's how I played in the past and I no longer can do that.

You can't see enemy (or friendly for that matter) ground vehicles past 2500m. Go offline with a buddy or 2nd account and test it. It used to be at least 3000m.

Infantry disappear at around 650m (used to be 1km)

Also, if you're not seeing your rounds impact, they're timing out, and you're not hitting anything. Tracer burn-out is a separate issue.

It's all done for performance.

Makes me want to unsub right now.

i've got hits on some tank when i couldnt see the impacts when they landed around him.

*range*

*shoot*

*no HE explosions anywhere*

*keeps shooting and hopes dispersion manages to hit*

and yes i did get a hit.. but to thick armor at that range so no kill

I just went offline and tested every tank and ATG and the only two that didn't show impacts at 2600m (max render for land vehicles is 2500) were the Vickers and the R35. I believe the R35 could make it to 2500m, but it's turret lacks the necessary elevation to do it on level terrain. Also, the flak 30/ 232/pz2 20mm just barely makes it past 2500m.

How long ago did you do this?

2-3 maps ago. was a M10 on S hill of Spa. firing at a stug comign in far far open field west of town... west of railroad track iirc

think it was 2600m or so..

edit.

actually it was very close to render range. since i reversed when he fired and he dissapeared and then i drove up again and started shooting when he apppeared yet again.

and at an other occasion.

was a M10 s hill NNE of huy and fired at a IVD on east hill S of fb

didnt see impacts after the tracers burned out but after 10shots or so the dispersion made so i got a hit on him and he exploded

Maybe it has something to do with computers or settings. I was seeing impacts at 2600-2700m with the M10 (aphe and he)

Vehicle LODs have been 2500m since at least Fob 2002 (that's the oldest file I have readily available for comparison). Back then you could actually see that far in most cases.

Is it possible it could be different for other people with different computer settings? I recently acquired an awesome computer have everything set to best graphics quality. But I remember the last time I played it wasn't like this at all.

Nope. It is hard coded on the client and the host. The client won't draw them and even if the host would send updates about them.
