We have the auto walk with the g button....so why does it sometimes go to auto walk when you been walking for awhile with the w button.....i dislike this very much when im trying to be stealthy.

I have noticed auto-walk being on after letting go of 'w' recently also, however I have not tested the specific conditions yet.

happens if you're walking, you bring the map up, whilst walking then put it back. then it auto walks you :)

This is the bug I hate the most I think it happens when you are running an open the map you are set on auto run, then when you close you keep running and you just notice you are auto running when you finally arrive at your objective where there are enemies right in front of you!!!

Fix this CRS.

Then when you close you map auto run is turn off again and requires to press W or Repress auto run if you wish to actually auto-run.

On many times I'm on a hotzone and I must open the map to check marks while i'm still moving, this can be fatal :(

Man if 1.34 fixed this it would nail almost all gameplay killers which make me curse this game.

Huh?

You want me to have the sprint key close the map? I am not following here.

Current functionality:

  • spawn inf

  • press and hold 'w' to go forward

  • open map

  • UI goes modal

  • cursor appears

  • inf continues to move forward as when map was opened

  • close map

  • inf continues to move forward until state change initiated

If you don't want to move forward after the map closes why were you moving when you opened it?

I don't see a reason to stop an infantry moving when you close the map.

I was moving forward first because sometimes stopping on this game will kill most of the times since ei can see you and stalk you especially if you are on an open plain stopping is a really bad idea but secondly the enemy position is still unknown to me he could be in a different direction, 50m from me or 1km and it's better to keep running when you can be far from your target I could also spot an enemy far from me while I'm running I decide to mark it to actually help my team...

So I did some testing again and the problem is:

Examples:

-I'm on a hotzone I open the map I see marks near me I head to those marks I'm now on auto walk, I see the enemy I aim but forgot I had auto run on, I press A to try to dodge and try stop running but it doesn't work, I press shift to run and Avoid enemy fire but I hit a tree the enemy wounds me now it just came to me that I have to press S or W to stop auto run but it too late I'm dead.

-I'm heading to a town I open map to check if any marks are marked , An ei passes near me I have auto run so I wasn't able to stop at the precise time to hit him since I was rifle I miss the ei he turns and kills me.

Reason:

This something that screws game play in a deep level of concentration the one which is suppressing your rational side that know you have to press W or S, has you can see the player that made this thread didn't know what actually causes it since he is so concentrate on surviving and killing in the game I actually had this happening to me for a long time and it was like a week ago that I found it was by opening the map that I was stuck on auto-run I actually thought that I was pressing the auto run key in such a automatic manner that I had forgot I had press it.

There are two solutions I really don't think it hurts anyone:

First Auto run is used on long runs usually when the enemy chance to kill you is low so usually controlling your direction is just done by aiming the mouse strafe left or right is actually not use since if you do this you are already avoiding fire which probably it would be better having the direct control of your movement or you can also just be fooling around but that doesn't really count.

1- Turn auto run off when you close the map - This will snap the player and he will realize he is not on auto run and will make him use his movements keys and to those players who really want to auto run they will have to press auto-run key <- that's what the key is for.

2- Make auto run turn off when pressing A and D I would say that pressing the spring key would turn it off too but by pressing the sprint key alone would have to make the player sprint forward without pressing W.

( I prefer the first option since it discriminates bluntly what you want to do and seems easier to implement)

This is actually a real annoyance for a player who plays alot of infantry and opens the map alot of times to check & mark marks.

Best Regards

we used to stop when we opened map.. but was disliked by most.. so they made it this way so we could walk and watch the map at the same time.. it wont go away just because you dont like it.. learn to tap W or G instead before doing anything else

I not saying that you must stop to open the map I do not want that but I do want that after you close the map you stop.

Maybe adding a new option on the gameplay section that allows to disable/enable the auto run off when closing the map but this must be standard disable since this happens to alot of new players (I actually think this might be the best option none will have to adapt unless you want too)

I died a handful to this and I'm sure rookies die more, they just don't realize its because of auto run on the map.
