Thanks Thief for pointing this out.

Interceptors climb at around 1km/min. (This is a gross oversimplification, but it is off by less than a factor of two.) The ground speed of bombers I would guess at around. 360km/h. That makes it necessary for the airplanes to lift 3 squares in front of the bombers to get to 6km, squares pop up when EA is about half-way through, so the absolute minimum would be 4 squares around factories. This of course expects that the interceptors are more or less sitting on the airfield prepared to take off, but then let's not forget about the ability of the interceptor to stay in the air close to the factories, while unseen by the bombers.

I don't have the game map in front of me, so I can't precisely say what it has to be shorter than. But we certainly don't want it to get close to the frontlines and I know that if you spot bombers by Vlissingen heading to UK, you have plenty of time to make yourself a cup of tea and then spawn in to intercept.

I would make a 60 kilometer circle around every factory at the moment.

" It was a mirror/echo."

I can't seem to get this to happen on beta. Been flying all morning trying different stuff.

That should be enough for now.

We have a Vehicle that can track EA over water and will cover a 10 klm area from its position, we need those vehicles at sea and AI controlled reporting EA. They can in turn be sunk or disabled.

They are called Ships. Destroyers, transports, fairmiles.

Let the axis set a few up in the rivers south of the map. increase there reporting range to cover the gaps.

What say you?

My guess is that that the beta server has a low population. I notice when the server is more populated I get a lot more "echos/mirrors." It has been pretty common knowledge to take a non-traditional AWS box with a grain of salt because they are generally mirrors/echos.

They already have units that detect players. They are called towns (or more correctly' date=' CPs). Use them. Again.[/quote']

The only way that'll work is if we force despawn you if you go outside the play boundary. That might be a good idea. Probably have to increase the EWS range a bit though.

See the problem is that the system allows players to actively play in such a way as to utterly avoid playing the game. I'm not talking "avoidance" as a game mechanic. I'm talking air moling. And it was never good for the game.

I believe that. Who's the biggest air squad at present Maybe I can get them to do a beta squad night.

A qualitative observation here last night:

Was flying around Hermskeill and we saw a RED square. This turned into two red squares at one point and it could possibly have been a ghost in the machine:

Sorry no screenshot but have the ghost grid from memory below.

Ghost AWS should be fixed in 1.34. So if it is positively seen again it probably needs a bug report. This was hard to do in testing as we don't really know how to re-create it.

How is the partial AWS removal going by the way?
