Stug IIIB and Stug IIIG driving performance

Well it would be weird for the engine to not have changes throughout all that time..

Not really. Maybach HL 120 TRM was widely used engine and I would believe it was quite standardized. Perhaps some single parts got changed, but I doubt that some better sealings or sparks had that significant improvement, especially when the newer chassis were heavier.

Must get this:

Can someone test the top speeds on these?

Sure, but I think it will be quite difficult because lack of speedometer. I believe it would work if you do rallypoint checkpoints for particular range on offline island and then roll over them by max speed and then compare times.

Did some offline testing and the G is about 5kph faster top speed offline. Probably some transmission gearing differences.

I made some tests too.

Funnily I got opposite results

Sadly I couldn't find a runaway long enough for StuG IIIBs acceleration, so I had to use road on Offline island. Even the large firing range at Offline island was too short for it. StuG IIIB's acceleration to top speed took insanely 1:49 min! Whereas with StuG IIIG it took only 27 secs. I believe they actually have the same top speed when the difference was only 0.3 sec at 200 m. But it's very strange that IIIB's acceleration is that much worse.

im just waiting for Mr. 30 minutes to come in here :D

StuG B takes ages to accelerate... while the StuG G is quite fast.

but what about the other axis tanks?

III F / III H / IV G / IV D

takes forever to accelerate with them

then test the allied tanks on training server

Stuart / Sherman / S76 / M10

they accelerate like hell. just start your engine and set to 1st gear. you can almost "feel" the power and how they jump towards

was it really that different in RL ?

I wonder that too.

I know there could be some other issues with other vehicles, but shall we not bring them here? I don't want another bash war with axis and allied toys.

Back to the topic shall we.

What about stug's reverse speed?

Seems a bit slow compared to how the stug backs up in band of brothers after carentan but thats prolly not a good source.

In real life tanks had several reverse gears (afair), we have only one.

Not true

232 have 4 reverse gears but they are all farked

tiger has 4 reverse gear also.

What we do not vae is indication of which reverse gear we are in but then again revs counter is you friend :-))

Other tanks I dont know of my head but Ill be damned if Im going to waste time logging in testing this abomination of a game, im waiting for 1.34.

So test it out ourself ;-)

I was off road. Sounds to me like the G is the odd man out. Top speed in 30 seconds?

I totally did not know that. Very cool.

Yes some vehicles have multiple reverse gears.

Allied side has some too i duno wich one.

You can hear the gearswitch but it doesn't say R1 R2 or something, it still shows R.

all vehicles with multiple reverse gears require you to manually change gears in the same fashion the forward gears do
