Introduction

Open Test for v1.34 is now ready for Release Candidate testing. This test will start as an offline test. After this we will open the server for Open Testing. During this phase we will be holding a Focus Test with the following goals:

  • Stress test the hos
  • Balance new weapon play
  • Test host performance improvements

Testing

Live fire testing is limited to the Kortnijk-Avelgem area, all other areas are for no-fire testing only. Please respect the other testers and only fire on others you are in contact with.

On Saturday we will be conducting a live fire Focus Test. The Focus Test will be the Americans and Germans simulating a mini-campaign style event.

Please remember that this is Release Candidate testing so test any and everything you can and report your results to us on the forums. You feedback is essential and we appreciate any information you can share.

Infantry Combat

Thew new host has made a huge difference to us in beta but that's small testing. How does it feel with a few more of you? How's the mouse feel? We've increased the default mouse speed and added a second slider for aiming. Try them out.

RPATS

How do they feel. Overpowered? Underpowered? They're pretty spot on with the data. Tell us how combat felt though.

New Weapons

What about the other weapons how do they feel. Are there any animation issues? Sure there's always going to be some clipping, I mean big stuff. Oh yeah, the US Bazooka guy is not available offline and online he's missing his pistol and knife, these will be fixed in the next patch. *shrug* How 'bout that G43 eh?

Sounds

We made a bunch of fixes here. I'm not sure how many of them you can test in this event but if something has been nagging you see if you can replicate it. If you hear something new, better or worse, be sure to let us know.

Host Issues

CTHLs. MrPs. Firebugs. Padlocks. These and many more bugs are squashed because we now have a persistent map mission connection. If this were a real campaign you'd notice your in-game map updating all on it's own. No clicking. PROGRESS! Still, keep your eye on this a lot. Stressing this is actually why we're here . Oh and just in case a whole lot of you turn up, no worries. Server capacity increased 300%. Honest!

Testing Guidelines

  • This is beta
  • Do not run the software if you are not comfortable with that
  • Players should not move brigades
  • Do not post your crash reports (we get them already)
  • Do tell us about your crashes
  • Feel free to make threads about bugs
  • One bug per thread please
  • Make sure to give a post in our feedback thread(s)
  • Don't post your DX Diag
  • Just give us CPU and GPU and OS
  • Remember this is a STRESS TEST
  • Things WILL break
  • Have fun

This test will start as an offline test. After this we will open the server for Open Testing. During this phase we will be holding a Focus Test with the following goals:

Items below marked with a + are new issues. Every item on this read me requires testing.

Testing:

- Fix for xaudio max sounds

- Disable sounds if no device is found instead of exiting the application

- Fixed an issue where vehicle engine volume would continue to affect external sound volume when engine was off

Terrain:

+ Added stand in AI for the Americans

+ Adjusted tree colors

+ Fixed flag issues on FRU

UI/HUD:

+ Reverted to old font to avoid any QA issues

- updated UI screens

- New campaign/scenario selection screen

- Campaigns disabled in this test

- Waypoint tooltip in map now displays distance from player to waypoint, in meters, rounded to the nearest meter. It does not take the Z-value into account.

- UI displays waypoint icons alongside checkboxes in the map

Map:

+ The join brigade function has country info

+ Surrender flags working again

+ EWS is working

+ AWS is not

+ Map now centers on your brigade when you create a mission

Host:

- All new vehicle/infantry updates system:

- Provides for much smoother positional updates, especially for infantry

- Prioritizes important updates and update elements

- Increases frequency of updates per player/vehicle you can see

- Improved recovery from packet loss/lag,

- New persistent Map Host connection

- Scoring basics now in (but scoring not working)

- Fix for locked personas/cthl on relog <-- WOOT!!1!

- Mission Results are no-longer pending :(

- New update system does not implement the "stuck firing" feature of previous versions :(

- Popular feature where the game would save you from staying online too long by releasing you back to the real world ("CTHL") is no-longer functioning at 100% efficiency. Playnet is not responsible for any increase in gameplay duration you may suffer as a result =/

Keymapper:

- Improved default mouse speed

+ Aiming has a separate mouse sensitivity setting

We've added some new connections tracking inforamtion to the UI. We need to find the cause of several issues from the Open Test this past weekend. Please visit the forums for the sticky to report on any issues you have with connections or connection related issues.

- FRU function should be all good

Infantry:

- Added concussion / damage effect to bazooka back blast within 3 meters

- FR grenades now loose spoon when thrown

- Removed rounds from the Thompson magazine reciever during reload

- Fixed some alpha issues on the G43

- Fixed the US smoke grenade sprint animation speed

- Fixed reload animation for the scoped Springfield

- German satchels now show correct German model when placed

- RPATs can not be reloaded while moving

- RPATs will draw a little farther than other weapons at the same LOD settings

- Blood splats now work even at lowest setting (but still no blood for china)

- Fixed BAR deploy jitters

- Fixed an issue with min atp and sprint speeds

- Added new fps shovel sprint animation to code

US Forces:

- Added Laffly as a stand in for the Deuce and a half

- Added Tiger tank to US to test Red v Blue function for China
