M1 Grand reload

How come A LOT, and I mean A LOT of people don't know you can't reload a M1 grand mid clip? I know you "can" but its a real pain.

You would think people who play a ww2 game would know some basic history.

Just wondering, is this not common to know? Sorta like how the fly boys don't know basic stuff about flying?

Some games choose to have the M1 having to shoot off all 8 rounds first, some you can reload mid clip (like COD:WAW) so people who play ww2 games might not know.

that is 1 game I did not play. Why would a game like COD have a rifle that historically didn't reload, reload

The M1 is actually quite easy to unload, just lock the bolt back and finger the little tab on the side and the clip pops (sometimes quite forcefully, actually) right out. What is *not* easy however, is wrangling all the rounds that will fall out when you do so. If you've already fired off 2 or 3 rounds, the remaining rounds in the clip become loose and tend to fall out of the clip once you remove it from the rifle. And even if you did manage to catch them all, placing a less-than-full clip in the M1 can be a real hassle to do as well.

So, if you truly wanted the best of both worlds, you'd be able to unload the rifle mid clip, but would lose the remaining rounds from the clip and not have it go back into your "ammo inventory", to simulate the fact you probably wouldn't go hunting for loose rounds if you're under fire.

FWIW.

You ignored me in game about this it seems, it's because you are incorrect. Ejecting the old en-bloc clip and then reload a new full one is a very easy procedure and not a difficult one at all.

Anyway, I know its possible to unload the Garand and very easy to do when it has a full clip.

What is not easy to do is unload it when the clip is half empty. I do agree with a previous post that said if we want to have the Garand unload midlcip, then you will lose the remaining rounds.

This would have the best of both worlds.

why should we loose the rounds? When you reload a half-empty clip from any other gun; you keep the bullets.

Just make the reload timer longer.

You would loose the rounds because of how the Garand clip works. When you have a half empty garand clip, the rounds want to fall out. That is one reason its a pain to load em and trust me, I have loaded several garand clips.

Take that + the ejection force, you will have rounds flying to the ground. During combat, you would not want to bend over and pick them up. The loosing of the rounds will simulate you not having time to pick up the rounds off the ground.

ah, the other "personas" are smart enough to transfer their bullets in a full mag but not the americans?

I know about all those little issues, but sometimes gameplay trumps realism.

For having loaded so many Garands you sure don't seem to know what you are talking about.

I would love to have ammo work like it does in red orchestra, but since we don't there is no reason for why just the Garand would lose ammunition.

You guys get an extra rocket with the Bazooka compared to the Panzerfaust.

I think that balances everything out.

lol @ "you guys"

im a lt col in every army buddy.

And its the panzerschriek that the axis are getting, not the faust, which, according to the little testing I did, seems a lot more efficient than the m9.

who cares if I can keep 3-4 bullets?

you know it always surprised anyway that you could keep those 3-4-5 last bullets from an empty clip, even in BF1942, at least originally, you had a precise number of reloads. So, even if you had 15 bullets left in the mag and you reloaded, those 15 bullets were gone.

Thats one thing 1942 got right was the reloads lol
