ATG/AAA Crew shooting bug found

Took a lot of digging but I see where the bug is. This is the bug where you shoot at ATG gunner for example in the head and it damages his legs etc. Spawned the infamous Axis Gun Killing Guide.

A long chain of correct code is punctuated by 1 tiny bug at the last possible step.

Fun time fixing it though but it should be good for 1.34. The guide will be toast at that point though :-)

Only effects "crew" in any vehicle but most obvious with ATG/AAA guns. Not an axis/allied thing it could happen to any of them, but if the data were defined in the right order everything worked fine, but any other order then you started to get mixed results.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ah whatever maybe yes. This was supposed to be one of the consequences of the guide. So well done Ahwulf.

So in 6 months I will remove the link to the guide from my sig...

Is this going to fix the missing head on pak 38?

Also this is NOT going to fix the fact that damage model of pak38 is NOT aligned with the visual model.

Great news!

Much as Romzy's posting style can give me headaches (and the fact that he's "NEVAR WRONG!!"), that post pretty much nails it on the head.

romz you['re] my damn hero

Ya know, at first Romsburg, you rubbed me the wrong way and I wasn't a fan. But over the past 12 months, you have really grown on me. You're precise, well spoken and although you are sometimes a little harsh, you are most often correct and in proper context with your responses.

indeed he's one of the few voices of common sense on these forums

If you're going to argue with Romz, do your homework before you post. He gets it, and you can't teach common sense, you have to be born with it.

pete, linc & julie:

I can't say [any]thing else [than] that the ban was justified considering that you have an 'impressive' TOS history....

Also this is NOT going to fix the fact that damage model of pak38 is NOT aligned with the visual model.

The pak38 (and 6lber and m1m1a3) crew have more than 4 damageable components and the code only supports 4 (head, torso, arms, legs). This is a separate issue which I will fix in code by combining the extras (two legs usually instead of a pair). The missing head was really both bugs combined where the head was mismapped to the unsupported component (thus making the head not damageable).

As to the damage model on the pak38 being misaligned beyond this code issue I have no idea. I'll check it once the two bugs are fixed.

The pathway of the problem was you shoot guy in head (correct) sent to host as shot in head (correct) received by the other client as shot in head (correct) but applied to the wrong component such as legs so the end result is incorrect.

Does this mean a direct HE round on Atg will know kill it?

Anyways I still want most atgs remodel and with the ability to leave them or enter.

But this will do for now great job.

HE is still likely to be unpredictable though it might be a little better. WHat will happen now is you shoot the two guys in the head and they are both dead.

But AHWULF, if you keep fixing these ancient bugs that people have *****ed about for years and years, what will people ***** about? Oh, wait, they can still ***** about each other.;)

Great work!
