Norton shows 1.34 as a threat

I downloaded 1.34 but when it comes time to run the program, Norton Internet Security says the download is a threat and automatically deletes it. Norton is rather intrusive but not sure how to get around it.

  • D/L
  • Unplug internet (yours not everyones!)
  • Switch off Norton
  • Install
  • Switch Norton back on
  • Plug the internet back in (everyone's if you f**ked up step 2)

;)

Will be a false positive in Norton, if you wait a couple of days will almost certainly stop detecting it as bad anyway ...

Norton sucks.

Just saying :)

Only way 1.34 will be harmful to your computer is excessive use of the Computer due to playing said 1.34:D

I renewed my subscription today, and have tried to download 1.34 three times and everytime I try to install it it disapears, even with Norton turned off.

Are you using FIREFOX broswer??

If you are, the Download thingy in FIREFOX has been a bit buggy (depends which version you are running). The problem seems to be Norton/other AVs trying to scan (large files) the DL file.

If you have Internet Explorer on your machine, DL it with that.

If you don't, update FIREFOX to latest version (assuming you are not running v7)

If you don't want to do that, install GOOGLE CHROME and DL it with that

Note: The other day, Norton was detecting FIREFOX as a virus ... All AVs are pretty rubbish, and this happens to one program or other almost everyday.

NOTE: DO NOT TURN OFF YOUR FIREWALL WHEN CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET. DL with everything switched on, switch off internets, turn off AV, install WWIIOL, switch AV back on, switch internet back on.

Honestly the only advice I have is get rid of Norton. Not only will you be rid of one of the worst AV's ever made, and it likely greatly inhibits the performance of your computer while playing, even if it does have one of those "gaming modes".

Please don't get rid of Norton to fix this if you can. Knowing what the issue is would be better. I can't install it on our network. I wonder if anyone else with Norton is having this problem?
