RPAT damage to user

Damage to the user is too low imo. I tried firing at the wall directly in front of me, less than 10m, and was able to survive every time. Even when basically point blank firing against a wall.

This doesn't seem realistic at all to me, although i'm not about to run out and try this irl to compare :)

You do understand that a shaped charge ( HEAT ) is very different from HE, it doesn't generate shrapnel ( or very little of it in reality ) and all the explosive power is concentrated in a small melted metal cone that's projected into the target, yes doing that in front of a wall in real life would probably hurt you badly or kill you, but still that's not where all the energy is going.

And imagine if you found a ET in a town very close range, he did not see you, you are very close on his flank, you take your RPAT aim it and shoot him, the blast kills you while he walks away fine, i can imagine what the side chat would be like 10 seconds after that :D

We had to balance realism and the fun factor. If we code the RPAT to cause significant damage to yourself and all friendlies around you, we open the door to some gamey/griefy garbage that would ruin a lot of peoples gaming experience.

In real war, you wouldn't dream of deliberately hurting those around you. In virtual war, it's all too common.

So we opted to give you some feedback, but not so much that you'd be in a situation where you'd pitch your keyboard and mouse out the nearest window because some dillweed thought it would by hysterical to wound/kill everyone in the room with him.

Also remember the game doesn't do things like blast apart the sheet rock sending shrapnel everywhere and bouncing a stake from a 2x6 off the ceiling and through your face.

Hehe. I wish it did though!
