Cannot set Player Name to Chat Tab

For some reason my Custom Chat / PM In Game wont work. I enter a persons name and it comes up chat unavailable.

Any hints ladies and gents ?

Game ID's (names) don't work in chat channels. If you want to use pm, the you have to use dot commands. ie: .m text and or .r text.

Actually, they do (or at least are supposed to). However, there is a bug with names over 8 characters not working.

I tried it w/my squadmate's 6 character id and got the same as OP.
