Intro

When the servers come back online we'll be conducting an Open Test on the beta server.

Participation is largely for those of you with repeatable connection errors. Try them again here and report any changes in this thread.

This will be a beta test so there will be some beta tools turned on but they are irrelevant to testing connection issues.

Downloads

Playgate will show the server availability and will auto update. The Mac client is a version ild but will be available to test the missing data features that havce been described in this test forum.

Testing

No focused testing but we do need to make sure that all the basic game mechanics work as outlined in the read me.

This test is primarily for those of you with connection issues.

Version 1.34.6.2 (12-12-2011)

General:

This release introduces several fixes for connection state issues. Please post in the test forum any issues you experience during this test.

Connection Issues:

- Cell host will now reconnect with less fatal errors

- Fixed chat reconnect errors

- Fixed several issues during spawn/respawn

Server

- the cluster is running an upgraded OS

- this will go live pending beta testing

- these infrastructure improvements will allow better stability and better error tracking

Testing

- see others

- kill others

- blow fb's

- capture towns

- move brigades

- ai shoot and kill

- ppo placement and destruction

- bridge build and destroy

- ews

- any/all other play mechanics

Archives

- due to the inclusion of 2 new archives the 1.34.6 update will be a full install only

Performance:

- Players should be aware that the most recent nVidia drivers can generate a significant fps increase

Infantry:

- Adjusted sniper scope view

- Fixed several infantry who could not use the build tool

- All players can post mortar barrage waypoints now

Misc:

- plink kills should now record (needs test)

- updated languages

- fixed a clipping issue at the Infantry FB

- adjusted spacing on some UI icons

- fixed an issue with no fire zones

China:

- updated remaining us flags

- all vehicle names should be available for translation

Beta:

- PlayGATE should now launch any server without attempting to update the local client to that servers current running version

Playgate downloaded the patch up to 100%, then nothing happened. Closed playgate and installed the beta manually, which seems to have worked.

Client CTDed after long loading time on third spawn.

On campaign server it took 8 spawns before CTD. Not sure whether this is just part of the normal variation you get with this bug or if the campaign version works better than the beta.

edit: I did one more test on the beta-server. Playgate installed another patch (or maybe it figured it would be good to reinstall the installer I downloaded earlier?). I only CTDed after the 17th spawn, there was quite a bit of variation in loading times though.

Chat Host 10046 is the latest. Just happened. number might be wrong my game immediately shut down after displaying the error.

I get app hang everytime at the splash screen,it starts to load and monitor goes black ,both online and offline.

Strange !! Last night I couldn't start 1.34.6 online or offline,but this am I started offline ok. I then went online and got the black screen again after Playgate downloaded an update, went back to offline again and got the black screen again . ver : 1.34.5 is fine,both off and online .below is the error message I'm getting .

Just tried online again and Playgate downloaded another update and installed it, and tried again and the loadind bar got to "multi textures" and locked up !

The error message was somewhat different from the first.

It got even stranger,1.34.5 started doing the same thing as 1.34.6, so I uninstalled 1.34.6 and 1.34.5 started working again !!:mad::confused:

Beta and Live share no files and do not affect each other.

Do not try and launch the beta from the Live Playgate (desktop shortcut).

Launch beta from the beta start links or the beta playgate.

If we want this fixes to go live next week before I'm gone until the New YEar then we need a LOT of testing. LOT. Call your friends.

There is one known issue on the beta where your first sortie fails to give an AAR and you have to back out and reselect the weapon to spawn.

I had tried to launch the game from both from the Battleground Test menu And the desktop shortcut,and the results were the same.

After I uninstalled 1.34.6, I went online in the campaign twice ok, the 3rd time it failed, and I started getting messages that my video driver had recovered from a failure when the game failed launch. After 3 times I uninstalled the AMD drivers and deleted all remaining related files. I downloaded new Ver. 11.12 drivers and installed them. The first time I logged online the game hung, so I backed out to the desktop and launched offline with no problem. After quitting offline I restarted online with no problem 3 times in 1.34.5. I haven't tried 1.34.6 again , YET . will try tomorrow.;)

rafaelbr, use the "/setrank #" command on the beta server, # is a number between 0 and 15 i believe, then you should be able to create missions.

I downloaded and reinstalled 1.34.6. the first time online it had an app hang, so I tried offline and got in 3 times. Went to online and failed, went back offline and failed there also ! Tried several more times, both on and offline and every time it "HANGS" when the loading bar reads "multitextures".:rolleyes:

i dont know if this is to be tested or not but:

With all infantry:

Aparently ramdon KIA or dead on RTB (according to the BETA: mensages "you returned dead and your sniper was alive")

i believe there is some conection with ammunition spent. but i could not replicate all times.

wallclipping possible at CPs

Testing at the Hall city CP, north wall, near the blackouted window, i was capable of receiving the message "entered capture building". will try in more CPs. in the barracks (container building) the entering the building msg is received too. side wall.

Rafael, if that occurs, restart. Your game world is offset due to the collider bug that's been hanging around since the Beta. Can't figure out a way to replicate the little bugger.

WE HAVE TO CLOSE THIS LIVE OPEN TEST ON BETA OVER THE WEEKEND AS THE SERVER WON'T BE AVAILBLE

Ahhh.... Thanks for posting this. Every time I tried to load the beta to test on the beta server, it would re-run the installation executable, complete and then allow me into the game. Anytime I tried to re-start the game in the beta, this process would repeat itself.

I'll try this instead this evening.

that's because the live playgate desktop utility you use to launch the live game can no longer be used to launch beta

it used to be ok to do both from the same version, but due to other changes, beta requires you use a beta version of playgate, and live the one you have already been using all the while before

(oh crap gophur explained this already)

anyway ... that's how enormous the changes to our server architecture throughout the v1.34 development have been, the game doesn't look different, so people assume all that is behind it is the same, but in fact, we tore it all apart and rebuilt it differently to make possible things the old architecture wouldn't allow, that we want to bring out for the game

this is why things have been so clunky with regards to the fine tuning of the HOST process, even as far as the networking behind that makes it all possible
