Possible Bug: Bunker Capturable After Town Libbed

In Defense of Sedan Thursday afternoon early evening... Axis Captured a Flag in town and Bunker went hot when it Should Have.

However, after Town was Libbed. The Bunker Status Box Showed Sedan AB Hot Fully 10 minutes after Liberation.

Exited and re-entered the Bunker Several times during those ten Minutes,Trying to refresh the Status Box. Even Re-spawned. Still Showed Bunker as Hot.

Allied player in the East AB Confirmed That EAB Was Showing Hot as Well.

I Also noticed this Same issue in Mouzon as well.

So Either The Status box is Bugged and isn't Showing the Correct Status (Which Should be "Not Capturable" if town is uncontested) or The Bunkers are Still hot and needs to be watched Until Status reads Correctly.

I've been trying to catch this but it appears almost impossible unless I watch it every minute of the day, and that IS impossible. Whenever I try to see this it isn't happening, but someone will report that it WAS happening earlier.

Can you make a note of things (when and if you experience this) that help identify the issues related criteria ?

Things like:

1. Are there any other related issues that go with it, most likely HOST states since the HOST determines ownership the client simply displays the information

2. FUBAR flags on facilities?

3. FUBAR ownership of towns problems ?

4. FUBAR capture progress bars

5. Are these things (or the one reported in this post) fixed or do they go away if there is a server restart ?

6. Are connection issues and mission/respawning type bugs present for your game login at the time the issue is apparent ?

7. Is EVERYONE seeing the same thing you are or is it more of an individual kind of thing ?

While this Info is Fresh in my mind For the Sedan instance. I Can't answer for the Other 2 times ... But i will continue to make note of these things If i See it happen again.

Things like:

1. Are there any other related issues that go with it, most likely HOST states since the HOST determines ownership the client simply displays the information

At Sedan The Connection to Host was Solid With No errors and No Loss of connection Hiccups or Freeze Ups'. At One point I thought Maybe it was an issue of the Client Not Updating the Changes... So During the 10 minutes, I left and re-entered the Bunker Several times to be Sure the Status Box was refreshed. After 10 minutes, and while i was Still inside the bunker, the Status box updated itself to "not Capturable" without me leaving the bunker to Refresh

2. FUBAR flags on facilities?

To my knowledge ( at Least in Sedan ) All Flags Read Correct ownership including bunkers

3. FUBAR ownership of towns problems ?

None

4. FUBAR capture progress bars?

Not Sure but I'll Keep it In mind to Check that when i see it Happen again I have Seen this issue in other towns during A recap... but Im not Sure if that Was the Instande in Sedan

5. Are these things (or the one reported in this post) fixed or do they go away if there is a server restart ?

No. They Do not Go away with Server Restart First Instance I noticed of this problem happened on the 11th Just prior the Quick Server Reboot. Mouzon and Sedan Were on the 12th well after the reboot

6. Are connection issues and mission/respawning type bugs present for your game login at the time the issue is apparent ? No Issues of these types for Me During this time

7. Is EVERYONE seeing the same thing you are or is it more of an individual kind of thing ? I thought about this when i saw It Happen and Asked the Other Bunker Guard

At Sedan. the player guarding the Bunker in EAB Confirmed that He/She was also Seeing The bunker as Still hot After the town was Libbed I Was in The other Bunker

Saw this as well.

Doc when testing this, be in the bunker when the state changes. That is what I noticed, those that were in a CP/Bunk when it changed saw the incorrect state.

I also noticed the progress bar (one that appears if your IN the bunker) and CP status bar (one that shows when your in the city) showed the town still contested. After the town was libbed, they didn't change. Left the bunker, the status bar updated but the progress bad didn't when re-entering the bunker.

I hope that helps.

While talking about testing, I always wanted to ask this. Is everyone at CRS line speed as in wired into the same local network as the servers? If so then it's a lot less likely you guys might get packet loss or out of order packets?

Just a suggestion, have your network guy get a couple old WAN routers, (as low as $20 on ebay) back-to-back them, and drop your line speed, induce a delay as well. Connect from the other side of this link. It will emulate a lower speed, even drop it enough to induce packet loss. Then your testing might show conditions closer to what the users see.

I only suggest this because it seems to me a lot of the bugs I've been reading seem to point to connection issues. A sniffer is a great tool for helping diagnose some of these issues.

Last thought. When asking people for system specs, ask them if:

1. Are you on a wireless router?

2. Is your router using NAT?

There may be a pattern there as well.

Test 1 (Beta)

  • p1 axis spawn at Roubaix
  • p2 allied spawn at Tourcoing
  • AO on Tour
  • p1 cap depot
  • town contested
  • AB reads "capturable in 10 mins"
  • wait 10
  • ab is cappable
  • start cap then uncap with p2
  • p2 goes to uncontest the town
  • town uncontested
  • AB reads "town is not contested"
  • unable to replicate

Maybe it is a bad host state. Unsure. Need replication.
