Game freezes on despawn

I hadn't played for probably 4-5 months until this week, the new version seems to have introduced a number of bugs.

The most serious one I'm getting is the freeze-on-despawn. I'll try to despawn normally; the camera should then start to rotate around my avatar/vehicle, but it doesn't and at this point the game seems to be frozen. There's no "not responding" in task manager but CPU usage is at 0%, I can't do anything, and it never takes me back to the mission screen. Only way to get out is to kill the game in task manager.

This happens regularly about every 30-60 minutes while I'm playing, depending on whether I do a really long mission etc.

You a fly guy? Anything different when it happens as opposed to when it doesn't?

I've mostly been playing ground. Only flown a couple of air missions and it didn't happen either time that I can recall.

Just happened to me again in Mouzon, here's the sortie: http://csr.wwiionline.com/scripts/services/persona/sortie.jsp?sid=1428561&pid=112163

Killed, hit "OK" to despawn, button stayed lit and the game froze. Note it says RTB even though I got critical damage...

Is there anything specific I should look for that might be helpful?

...and again. Pic of my final screen (taken with Snagit): http://screencast.com/t/OAWJvhCKSb8

So far its happened with inf, tanks and guns, in both heavy action and no/light action. The last two occurrences were both very short missions (<60 seconds), will pay attention and see if that pattern holds.

Just happened to me again in Profondeville - not precisely the same symptoms, this time the game froze when I was back at the mission screen and tried to "enter world." Once again it was after a mission that was extremely short (maybe 15 seconds or less, I was killed coming out of the barracks).

So, the common thread seems to be that the game gets 'hung up' somehow when transitioning between the gameworld and the mission screen etc., after a mission with duration below a certain threshold. Not sure exactly what this threshold is but I reckon all the missions so far have been shorter than 60 seconds.

Next I'll try to figure out if every 'short' mission causes the freeze, or only sometimes.

Figured out what the problem is here, the game freezes when BE finally sucks up all my RAM and for some reason isn't releasing resources for further use.

I have 2gb of RAM which isn't huge, but as far as I know is the stated minimum requirement - and in any event, surely there's a way for BE to handle this problem more gracefully?

Roger that. There is a fix for that in the Open Test. Might seem if you can replicate there is you get a chance. I'd like to confirm this fixed in beta as this is probably the last of the 1.34 patches going live.

bump

This bug is still around and still making my game experience pretty frustrating, with 6 gb of ram it still occurs regularly, at least once an hour.

Which one Spec. You've posted two different bugs in this thread. I could never replicate the first one and no one else reported it to me. THe seconds is fixed but there is still an issue similar to it.

Sorry. I should be more clear.

The issue I'm discussing generally occurs when you attempt to despawn. Pressing "OK" in the 'are you sure?' dialogue box results in nothing happening - game CPU usage drops to zero and stays there, the "OK" box remains depressed ('lit'), the game appears frozen and does not appear to recover automatically (need to kill in task manager). See for instance the screenshot in post #4.

Generally I get these about once per hour, depending on how many missions I play etc. A few minutes ago this happened to me after my first mission upon logging in.

This specific bug does not seem to occur at any time other than the transition from gameworld to mission screen, or vice versa.

Evidently my earlier hypothesis that it's related to a 'maxing out' of system RAM is not correct, as I added a significant amount of RAM without evident improvement in this bug's frequency.

If this has been fixed then I'm glad to hear it.

Do you fly?

Sometimes but mostly play ground.

Current campaign I have 135 ground and 11 air sorties (according to stats anyway).

What is the mem usage of the game when this is happening to you? Is it getting above 1.5GB?
