Getting trapped in factories

If you are inside a factory when it changes state, or worse if there's a FRU inside it, you get trapped inside (in soviet Russia, game clips you!)

Hmm. Guess you don't die because no floor?

Probably. It would also explain why its the only building I can think of that a FRU can be built inside of.

Yup.

Hmmm.....

Side topic. If you own a facility should you be able to place an FRU in it? I've always thought no, too hard to find but... well. Also bad because a lot of buildings aren't near the facility that actually owns them. No real rhyme or reason to it either.

It's tricky to give a blanket answer to that.

There's some cases where it would be incredibly helpful to be able to build inside a facility. Airfields for instance can't be built on which makes defending them very hard at times. They are useful in some cities, especially those split by an overpass or river but buildings are too compact to build inbetween, or there's no concealment for a fru, so being able to build inside would help. Same goes when trying to hide a FRU in the wide open streets of big cities.

But at the same time, a FRU inside a bunker or docks building could make the position impossible to attack. You also correctly point out a FRU in some cities would be hard to find, and a FRU hidden in a place like Antwerp would be impossible to find.

I'd be inclined to say leave it as is. If you want buildings they can be hidden in make a few simple structures like garage, hangar, or shed that offer some basic cover, and I think I'd say make them a single state building (like the ruined farm house) so you don't wind up with people trapped inside them.

My last point actually got me thinking. A simple solution to the factory problem could be to simply remove its damaged state. Even if it takes 100% damage have it look the same.

Don't like the idea of putting them in buildings. If what you said, the facility is "owned" ie. anything that has a flag on it, possibly make it spawnable like a depot. Although I never liked the fru concept, the placement rules have made sense. Keeps people from doing dumb things with them.

That said, one of the things I always liked about wwiiol was its pseudo realism. Trucks were ok as spawn points, troops came to war on trucks. If you see an enemy truck, you assume it has troops or ammo, that makes sense.

Having infantry spawn out of magic boxes, effectively giving the ability for one lone rifleman to carry an entire company of troops on his back and deploy them at will, that took a lot away for me. I was really disappointed to see this.
