1. Just tried to place mortar control points on the map & immediately noticed no text tags assiciated with the icons [either default numbering M1 .. Mn or user edited tagging]

2. The tags are identified on the map as "reports" [as in enemy spotted/location map markers]

They are contact reports. You'll notice even if you set it as a waypoint it still says "reported by" in the tool tip.

The bug is it still shows up in the waypoint menu.

Speaking of if we could have more waypoints would they be useful? What kinds would you use?

Yes I noticed that they're now listed in the contact reports menu as well. It was pointed out by someone in game this was [apparently] the original intent for these marks [to be contact reports rather than waypoints] though why they were left as waypoints for so long without a fix until now .. ?!? [i've been here about 5 years now & they've always been waypoints]

Noticed that too ..

Well now that you've taken the mortar [crosshair] waypoint away, something similar [maybe a wee bit larger?] would be useful that still allows text tags.

Those of us who do RDP bombing runs have generally used the mortar waypoints as opposed to the triangular 'attack here' waypoints. The circle & crosshairs of the mortar waypoints were easier to determine the precise centre of the waypoint when initiating stopwatches while bombing factories blind [obscured by cloud].

It would also be wonderful NOT to be restricted to the 8 [or 10?] characters for waypoint text tags, not to mention being able to use special characters too. i.e. NOT using the underscore ‘_’ to get a dash ‘-‘

How about a BLUE [or GREEN] map marker for friendly FRUs?

Currently many use the SHIP contact report marker on land for this function which has led some of the rookie players to use the same contact marks for eFRUs [enemy FRUs] as opposed the TRUCK symbol [they're not aware trucks used to be our Mobile Spawn Points - MSPs]

Maybe provide dedicated FRU icons appropriately coloured RED & BLUE [or GREEN] instead of using either the SHIP or TRUCK in this case.

Being able to provide the location of nearby friendly FRUs to friendly armour & ATGs [& other friendly forces] not in the same mission can be useful for ammo resupply – also saves mistaken ID of French FRUs for AXIS FRUs by Allied players not on the same mission as the FRU in question which may draw undesired friendly fire [though not leathal to friendly players or the FRU, it does draw nearby AXIS attention to the location].

I think we’d all like to see the scalable compass dial returned to the mini-map too.

It was newver meant to be this way. We wanted to change it so that mortarmen, not their commander, could place their own ranging icons. Thus contact reports.

I like give a target back to the ML as a waypoint. Make it like the attack objective maybe annd be T1 etc.

No chance to change the name length. That's what the notes are for. It uses the same code as player names and I guarantee I'll never get that change off of the wish list.

FRU - purposely don't want you to see FRUs other than your own mission. Not sure it really helps prevent spying but I think players perceive it as hurting if we do it the other way.

But we need an enemy Mobile Spawn Icon. Stop calling them FRUs because when we make them for ships and paras and atgs and tanks we'll run out of crazy acronyms. In house we call them all FRUs. Wish me luck on that crusade.

I see what you're saying about friendly WPs for resupply. Will think on it.

Agree on the compass.

  • CORNERED RAT

What about a report to let others on a separate countries mission contact?

example:

FAF RDP mission set up and running, but escorts want to fly RAF. since they are not on the same "side" they cannot be on the same mission. so the RAF ML has to create a mission with the same objective as the FAFs mission. then they can talk back and forth on the objective ch and they can see each others contact reports...so we have to use the ship icon or one of the other ones to notify the other side of ones position...
