regular CTD

Getting this on a regular basis, perhaps every 5-10 spawns. Happens on two machines, one of which uses NVIDIA graphics and XP, the other uses win7 and ATI.

ATI drivers are certainly up to date, NVIDIA ones not so sure.

The win7 machine has 6GB of memory, so its not a running out of RAM issue.

Both of these machines ran ww2ol relatively fine and stable 6 months ago, going back several years....so I'm thinking it might be something that has happened to the client/server during recent patches.

Here is the last bit of the ww2_log.txt file from one of the machines:

could have something to do with alt-tabbing while waiting to spawn in as it happened just now doing that.

It seems now I can regularly wait 10-15 seconds to spawn in once I click the enter world button, no disk activity or anything. This delay happens on both PC's so sometimes I alt-tab while I'm waiting.

Although I hate giving this advice for something that shouldn't be necessary...but it might be worth looking at.

It might be worth uninstalling and reinstalling the game with the latest full installer on one of the machines to see if there's a difference.

Were you able to just update for the last patch, or did you have to reinstall? I had to reinstall completely because of the update bug, but have had a fairly smooth experience playing lately. Granted, that's relative to the disaster that was December and January...

Thanks for the reply jar. Fortunately on both machines I missed the patching problems, so I don't think it is down to this.

The XP machine downloaded the full 700Mb+ installer a few days ago when I resubbed my 2nd account, the other machine got the small version of the patch without the bug.

Whilst annoying, its not something that is troublesome enough to make me want to reinstall and I suspect it is a general bug with the client or server that will be picked up in due course by CRS.

This is what we need to look at. We actually collect this automatically but I'd like you to post here when you crash. Don't think it is a reinstall issue.

Please if you can describe exactly what you are doing when it crashes. Then post the access violation code.

Gophur, in all instances where I've had crashes to desktop, I've been waiting to spawn into or out of the gameworld. Once in the gameworld the game seems stable other than the usual lag issues and an occasional CTHL which then reconnected ok.

I'll keep an eye on it and post the codes and a description of exactly what I was doing if it happens again.

Just wanted to update that I've been playing quite regularly since I reported this issue(2nd account thebrain), and I've not experienced any further CTD's.

Whatever has been done (to server?) looks like it may have fixed the issue.

On your Nvidia machine or AMD?

If AMD, can you list your AMD driver version and CCC graphic settings?

OK but keep me posted.

"The win7 machine has 6GB of memory, so its not a running out of RAM issue."

That doesn't mean anything. Each program can only use so much ram and if it uses more than that (1.7GB) in windows, it will crash. There is a terrain based memopry leak that causes pilots to CTD. It mostly happens when spawning in, covering lots of ground, respawning.
