Making the game accept 4gb of virtual memory instead of 2gb x86

A quite common problem is the fact that people are running out of memory, and a big fix we have found in my squad BTZ have been to extend it to the standard 4gb virtual memory of windows 7. It's quite simple, you just download http://www.ntcore.com/4gb_patch.php which only change the flag to allow the program to extend the memory in the windows API. What you do is download and extract the 4g patch then run it, point it to the ww2.exe in your install folder and press Open. This will allow windows 7 to allocate 4gb of RAM instead of 2gb to the game, which in turn will cause the game to CTD less frequently. Another big help is to run the game in Administrator mode, since this gives higher priority to write to both GPU and RAM.

Hope this helps people experience less bugs in this game

Very interesting.

I have noticed that RAM usage does not raise when I use 2 accounts, perhaps this contributes to the great number of CTD's when doing such.

I'll try your solution.

You should point the patch to ww2.exe for it to apply to the game, after that you run the playgate launcher as normal (in administrator mode that is )

Do note that the patch also creates a backup of your ww2.exe in the same folder, just incase something should go wrong. But in any normal circumstance it will work like a charm.

righto mate done it

will it improve performance or just help stop ctd?

It should in theory help the performance if you play in long sessions, 2-3h+ on the ground. This is due to some memory leaks in the game. But it will mostly help with CTDs becouse of the extra space the game is allowed to allocate which decrease the chance of it trying to write outside of its allowed space.
