I was in Achel just a few minutes ago. Enemy units were phase warping in and out of existance, air, armor, and infantry. This appears to have been happening with our units in regard to theirs as well. I ran into an occupied (Achel-Lommel CP) which was still showing as Axis and the cap timer was only 1/3 capped. EI were warping into the depot, I saw them on the 2nd and 3rd floors. I got onto the 2nd floor of the CP and it was empty. As I turned around from the corner, 5 EI blinked into existance and we started shooting.

The supply situation is nuts as well. Any damage done via RDP is apparently having no effect. We are getting rolled with full supply. There is something wrong that needs fixed quick, before everyone decides to go do something else.

A few patches back they seem to have broke the server. Warping, forced resets, mass CTDs.

Never since 2001, do I remember them having to reset the server nearly every day.

Something in the server is either broken or the host code is trashed.

I can't say this is the right analysis, but in the past, if you saw one other unit behaving in a flaky manner, most often that player had a high packet corruption and loss rate in their internet connection.

If you saw many other units behaving in a flaky manner, i.e. warping, disappearing and appearing, with other game data obviously funky as well, it was your own internet connection having a high packet loss and corruption rate.

Lost packets cause warping or blink-out/blink-in. Packet corruption can cause errors in the data your client receives, which is all that it can use to display the game.

Note that if your connection can have separate error rates in each direction. If your connection has a high error rate in the toward-server direction, you're likely to have CTD / CTHL problems, because the server will reject the corrupted packets as illegal and drop you. If the error rate in the from-server direction is high, OTOH, the client (I think) is more tolerant and willing to stay connected even though it can result in game craziness that you may not tolerate very well.

Just for the information, that wasn't just myself having the problem. My squaddies and a number of the other folks there were reporting the same problems. I assume it was the same for you guys, as I'd run into the CP and no one would see me until too late either.

As I noted in the other post, the server code is intentionally written to reject toward-server packets that contain illegal data or are detectable via KFS1's magic tricks as otherwise unacceptable, and to drop connections that send too many such packets in a given period of time.

This however puts CRS in a bind, because they don't control customer internet connection quality, and every CTD / CTHL is blamed on CRS even when it's just the server protecting all other players' game-experience quality by dropping individual players from which corrupt or illegal packets are received.

I think the changes that CRS has made in the last three patch cycles have been aimed at distinguishing and being more tolerant of corrupted packets as opposed to otherwise-illegal ones via state filtering and more KFS1 magic, and therefore keeping connections to players that send corrupted packets, but performing operations on those packets to change the corrupted data on-the-fly (which must be complicated to do) so that it doesn't wreck other players' game experience. The downside of doing all this complicated work to eliminate a few customer-connection-quality CTDs / CTHLs is that the server is constantly ingesting junk data and having to figure it out and transmogrify it very quickly. One effect of this is that the server error rate is hard to keep at zero, and database corruption can occur.

When database corruption occurs, a server reset eventually is needed.

The database? No, I think they have memory issues, thats more in line with the kind of issues we see.

That and workload issues, where updates are not getting to or updating your machines as part of the whole 1.34 attempt to reengineer the backend.

Its always in specific highly populated battles, not the game as a whole, which eliminates most ISP issues and the game host as a whole, which leaves us overloaded local clusters or host services.

Both sides have this issue. Not much we can do. I run into depots and clear it with a rifle killing 4+ guys with lmgs/smgs. I figure I'm not even registering on there screen. Same thing happens to me when I guard.

RDP doesnt really effect that much unless you keep hitting the same division all day

Leave it rest and it will recover

Plus generally all the good stuff is used first so comes back in supply first

RDP is a joke now.

And as for server being bad, I'm hoping they just DROP RA and fix the game we have and let it live happily the remainder of it's life :(

They didn't make any money.

If I recall what DOC said, even in its "hay-day" this game didn't make any money. It's more or less a service.

I have seen something similar to this case:

Was able to glance at enemy infantry not drawing(invisible) on my game and becoming visible after they open fire.

It's rare because in most cases you die by their bullets so it's hard to catch them drawing on the game. Have no Idea if this common daily.

This could probably be tied to the loading when spawing I have notice around 1.33(first spawn with 1.34 loading bug) you spawn faster on the game but the game it self seems not to be fully loaded, I for a couple of times I'm able to see the game load.
