Installer doesn't work properly when trying to install the game on another drive

Recently resubbed and attempted to install the latest full release. Wanted to put it on F:\bge since that's where I prefer to put my games. The installer seemingly gets through everything OK, but when I try to launch (after login) it fails on a registry lookup and exits.

Tried a few times with the same results, doing full uninstalls and scrubbing the registry of any rat traces, eventually I tried installing to the default location and it worked.

EDIT: Should probably mention it's Win7 x64.

Look in regedit for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Wow6432Node/Playnet/apps/appid1/instance1/path and see if it reads right.

Is it possible you have old registry items from a previous install?

Could be lots of things and personally I don't understand the Win7 reg as good as I did WinXP.

After the registry scrub you might try the custom location again. It works for me.

Did an uninstall from default location and reinstall to F:\bge now. The uninstall deleted the instance1 data (leaving the Wow6432Node\Playnet\apps\appid1 hierarchy behind, but no keys). After reinstall the registry data is as follows:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Playnet\apps\appid1\instance1]@="""Exec"="ww2.exe""Params"="-serverip $QUAD -serverport $PORT -serverotp $OTP -side $SESSIONID""Path"="F:\\bge""Region"="us""Version"="Battleground Europe"

Trying to start with this install, I click on Play! with campaign selected. I can briefly spot two messages in red in the status bar:

Registry lookup failed!

No registry entry for the game

and the game shuts down.

Did another uninstall, reinstalled to default location, registry is now:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Playnet\apps\appid1\instance1]@="""Exec"="ww2.exe""Params"="-serverip $QUAD -serverport $PORT -serverotp $OTP -side $SESSIONID""Path"="C:\\PROGRA~2\\CRS\\BATTLE~1""Region"="us""Version"="Battleground Europe"

Starting the game now works.

No mention of Playnet anywhere else in the registry.

It will be your specific problem.

My BE was at 3 different drives last month [HDD, SSD, RAMDISK]. IMHO BE works without issue (Win7 32bit).

That's just escape characters when exporting the registry entries to text...

In the actual registry they're single slashes.
