The game does not seem to recognise my joystick now ...it worked perfectly before and works perfectly offline....all key settings are as I want them.

I could put up with the booting on saving settings but without the joystick its a bit annoying.

I have 2 joysticks neither is recognised now any idea what the prob could be?

First thing I would do is boot up the game WITHOUT the joystick. See if there are any problems. Reboot with joystick and look for problems again. If that fails, reboot without joystick and plug it in once game is booted. Make sure your key-mapper is set to use your joystick. Restart your computer, etc etc. Just restart things one by one and you should get a fix, if you don't get anything reply back and we'll go from there.

Thanks for the reply but i've pretty much tried all that.

However I installed the game on my 32 bit system(have 2 hdds one 64 used mostly and 32 bit) ...the joystick works with the 32 bit system but the game keeps locking up every few secs and is unplayable.

Going to try re-installing on the 64 bit system

The game in 64 bit mode does not recognise my j/s either on or offline but the rest of the game runs smoothly.

The game in 32 bit mode recognises my j/s but the game locks up every few seconds when moving.

My joystick works perfectly with every other game.

If there is something wrong at my end then its a fault that is only appearing in ww2ol???????????????..nah.........

All this after fresh installs of the game on 32 bit and 64 bit systems.

As much as i like this game my patience is wearing thin.

No idea at all on the hud but for the JS if win7, go into control panel/devices and printers. Find your JS, go into the controler settings and set it as "prefered device for older games".

You got it mate ...I noticed this other option after I'd re-installed my j/s drivers and when i opened the menu it had no joystick selected when i selected the drop down menu ....there was my j/s and that was all thatw as needed...a whole feckin day......sorry for all the bother i've caused .

The top left icon I think was due to the default button on my keyboard being knackered ...I changed keyboards and all was ok.

Even saving changes doesn't boot me everytime like it was doing...still does sometimes tho.
