Elevator trim fidelity

Posting in the bug reports forum hardly makes sense, so I'm trying my luck here. I have issues with elevator trim fidelity, mostly in the P38. Outside of the game the trim wheel (top one on my X52 pro) is super-smooth. But when I get the debug monitor up in the game, the trim proceeds smoothly sometimes (in increments of about 3%, but sometimes jumps abruptly, say from 20 to 48% and then from 48% to 69%. This essentially means that the p38 is unflyable for me. Can anyone try it out in the game if his elevator does the same? Putting any sort of curves on it doesn't seem to help.

Sounds like the pot is spiking. Try a youtube or google search on cleaning joystick pots. Wish you luck.

No it isn't, the pot is OK. I open the control panel at the same time and the movements are perfectly smooth.

Yeah, huge jumps like that you are going to compress and just be all over the place.

Check the values for elevator trim in your air file.

Do you have trim mapped in SST? If your using your whell are you "banding" the trim? I have found the wheels, mini-mouse, and slider problematic when banding controls. Now I have trim controls set to my up/down buttons on my 3rd hat, the one on my throttle. Works like a charm.

The P-3eight is very touchy to trimming.

I looked at it again today, and it turns out beazil was right, it really was the pot spiking, I just didn't see it in the control panel the first time. So I opened up the throttle, quite a pain. Basically there isn't any other way than almost complete bottom-up de-assembly to get to that pot. I didn't have contact cleaner so I put some WD40 on it and it works!
