#463 - Ground going from light to dark with new AMD Drivers

Just decided to install the newest AMD drivers after COH 2 informed me they were outdated (And still are). The ground in the game is now flashing from its daylight texture to I believe its nighttime texture depending on where I'm looking.

As another note, during nighttime everything returns to normal.

Its the atioglxx.dll which is causing this ever since 13.3b5 driver -

The 13.5b2 driver was the last one to install without having to do any modifications afterwards to get rid of the texture flickering

Replace your atioglxx.dll in syswow64 and system32 directories with this one http://www60.zippyshare.com/v/50248704/file.html which i uploaded, from the 13.5b2 driver - rename your original atioglxxx.dll file first to atioglxx.OLD or something.

Ive been doing that small procedure with every AMD driver since 13.5b2 and so far its all working peachy, currently running the 13.6b3 13.150.00 from May 23, 2013 without any problems and very smooth - after replacing the .dll file

...while you're at it - and anybody else with newish 13.xx AMD drivers and wondering why the f### the CCC takes an eternity to start after windows start:

open regedit - look for CLIstart.exe - go to backups key - find key Delay = 300

(yeah, thats right, a 5 Minute delay in starting CCC, wtf?!) and change the delay to 0

That goes for everyone with 13.xx drivers on AMD cards - multiGPU users might also wanna try turning ULPS off, also to be found in registry..may cause some stuttering if enabled because one card / gpu may switch very rapidly from the Ultra Low Power State to full power and back down - repeat, hence...

...also Disable the AMD External Events Utility in Services....formerly called ATI Hotkey Poller..useless, useless, useless..make it so!

AMD seems to have... issues.

Regardless of their issues, thanks a lot for the info gsc. Here's to hoping it works on my mobility.

At least AMD hasnt managed to release drivers that may actually burn up your chip, unlike nVidia with the last set of officials, the 320.14 i think - take replacing a file and modding some reg entries over that any day....

which drivers have you installed now, which drivers did you get the flickering with and what card do you have?

amd drivers are pretty modular and can be mixed and matched, packaged and so forth - you could still rrun the latest driver with an older oglxx.dll or something. save the atioglxx.dll from your current driver unless its from 2009 and then try a newer driver again replacing the new atioglxx.dll file with the one from your older driver for example...

13.1 installed now, 13.4 was latest and those were the flickering drivers.

Thought I'd also reply here to bump this one up...

+1

Worked for me after installing the latest AMD 13.10 b2... have been desperate looking for a fix for this issue since earlier this year when the *newer* drivers started being released... had to keep uninstalling and going back to the last good driver, 13.4 for me I think it was.

Thanks for this tip.

Thanks for the info GSC. I haven't encountered any flickering issues, yet, but i am going to look into the delay on start up and such.

One issue i encounter is after about 4-5 hrs of continuous gameplay the trees and grass go bright green and when i hit escape key to despawn they go back normal. Only happens about once or twice a month. checked temps and they are all good even lowered the OCing but no change.

FYI.. running a 7850 fully overclocked, max temp only reaches around 55-60 degrees.

Try the "fix" - put the atioglxx.dll in the Battleground folder where ww2.exe resides and check for anomalies in game, flickering etc - should be gone - dont roll back - 13.9 is fine - used it as well and had to do the fix ever since 13.3b5 - works fine then

The green-bright green colors after a while, i have that as well, usually when im spawned in and not doing anything for a long time so the screen goes into energy saving mode or something like that - come back and all colors have a strong green hue for 1-2 mins before they plop back to normal

I just re-installed Win 8.1 without installing AMD catalyst drivers, just using

13.251.0.0 drivers provided in Win 8. Getting no flicker in ground brightness

and so far better FPS in game ??

Use this:

http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=379505

Display Driver Uninstaller

then try this driver:

http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=386270

AMD Catalyst 14.1 BETA 1.6 (13.350.1005.0 January 31)

delete atioglxx.dll from battleground folder (where ww2.exe resides - if you have it in there that is) or rename it to atioglxx.OLD and see if flickering still present with this beta driver for you without the "fix" - i dont have it anymore

The Ground keeps flashing depending on how I tilt my view to a shadowed tinge of grass to a light tinge of grass.

It's quite distracting, can anyone provide a fix?
