CTD when saving new keymapper settings

This is a consistent CTD and its something I've had with this game for a long long time.

Basically, when I try to save a new keymapper x axis or y axis from mouse to joystick or to whatever, as soon as I click SAVE it CTD's

it does however, save the setting, so it's more annoying then anything.

Win 7 64bit (did this on win xp as well)

ati 5850 (done this through various drivers)

athlon b55 3.6ghz

Joystick in question is a thrustmaster fox 2 pro Top Gun a verrry old joystick.
