Use this thread for feedback on changes to the HE model that affects the rounds listed below.

HE Rounds Data Audit:

The beta team under the direction of Scotsman has been working on improving the fidelity of our shrapnel model. Since computers have advanced so much since we first wrote this data we can now afford to calculate more realistic numbers of shrapnel pieces. Consequently, all HE rounds have had their explosive and shrapnel models adjusted. Once again our sincerest thanks for the time and dedication the crew ahas put in to make our game better for everyone. Thank you.

Vehicles (Tank / Truck / Anti-Tank Gun):

- Adjusted truck windscreen thickness so they all function the same

- New camo pattern for Panzer VI E Tiger

- New camo pattern for Panzer IV G

- New camo pattern for Pak40 ATG

- New camo pattern for Pak36 ATG

- Updated art for Opel Blitz truck

- Updated art for 6 pounder ATG

- Updated art for 17 pounder ATG

- Updated art for M1A2 M5 ATG

- Updated art for vehicle commanders and some crew

PZ4G and other large caliber guns.

When the HE round is just about to impact the target I get a very short freeze of about a half second before it goes off and the game returns to normal.

That's all the new shrapnel but you really shouldn;t be seeing anything on that rig. Mine is WAY lesser spec and I'm not having the issue. I'll keep looking at it to see if others report.

I only get 30FPS in towns though. Even before the patch.

someone stood on one of my grenades and lived lol

i got bombed (inf) and walked into the blast perfectly fine lol

tried to spam sherm HE behind a atg (around 5m) but it doesn't kill anything, i can shoot at an ei's feet and he can mosey on by sometimes (only not often, but still).

did some reading and learned a 40mm/1kg mortar shell can be more effective than 100mm+10kg+ guns, however, the fragmentation still seams low for all gun based HE rounds.

This is probably because you saw the bomb different than where it actually was?

I played for a bit as infantry and got bombed 3-4 times, "unlucky" I thought, but since HE changed i'm guessing it's also because of that. Good thing though, it's nice to need to go prone to avoid HE111 bombs in a town. Adds to realism.

Were nades covered in the audit? I haven't heard them mentioned at all in any of the treads.

I sure hope they are. As you have a better chance of knocking a player out by hitting them in the head than you do of blowing them up currently...

For those wondering about what the likely effect of the HE-Audit will be I'd suggest reading this post by Scotsman.

http://forums.battlegroundeurope.com/showthread.php?t=448911

Also remember that all HE calculations are done on your own PC. Therefore if someone is shooting at you and NOT using the new patch, you will still see the usual effects, not the more lethal version.

eg in major0noob's case where he got bombed, as stated you don't see where bombs actual land, and if the other player isn't on the new patch it would explain his survival.

The smaller your profile, the easier it is to avoid shrapnel.

i thought the laggy explosions 100m away only affected super fast projectiles, like at/tank gun rounds.

@BLOO can any shrapnel go down? say a tank shoots into a window, there's a inf prone far enough to avoid any shock waves but not shrapnel, will any hit him if the round explodes over him?

does it explode up every time or will the shrapnel "bloom" fly at a 90* angle if it hits a wall?

Shrapnel "blooms" from point of detonation.

Whew. Well hell still having a problem though. Hate to say it seems like a one off though. If you create a seperate thread for it we can sticky it and see if other report in it. Include CPU/RAM/GPU please.
