also when I try to connect again I get the "playgate is already running" error. I go to task manager and the Battleground europe client is in the background and can't shut it down without restart. Keep trying to end task but it won't.

I have tried to uninstall the game, reinstall the old client, and get the same error now.

Uninstalled everything again and installed the new client and same thing.

Can't get the background process shut off and can't start to log in without it prefilled to my log in name to see if I can log in with another account.

Ok so here's the update:

The new patch creates two files in your DOCUMENTS folder in Windows. 1 is called playgate.0 and the other is a wwiiol notepad file.

Also when you try to uninstall the patch it leaves the playgate exe file and a REGIONS file. You have to delete those files (you won't be able to unless you restart)

Delete all the files listed above after restart. Then install the old client and it works.

Still can't get the new client to work at all.

At least I got the old one working but took all afternoon trial and error to get it going.

Running on an AMD system.

We're completely relearning this entire process from scratch after more than 2 years, with no documentation and a totally different source control and back end, undocumented too. We have some coder support but it's about 1/10th of what we used to have when it was a regular and daily process in every respect that it isn't anymore. So there are bound to be some conflicts especially as we are having to run this as a psuedo current live build rather than a seperate beta process we can debug in it's own cluster environment.

I had the same issues myself but fortunately it ran on my box build without exception, although to get the "old" live build to function from a desktop launch (Playgate) I too will have to go and futz around deleting and replacing files.

That we got this far is a minor miracle ... we're almost ready just not quite. Every day we relearn something that in the old days would not have been an issue at all, but everything now is quite different and not anything like it used to be.

That might seem at odds with "but you run a software business where this is a normal activity" but the reality is what we've been running to get this far since the 2012 events is quite different to that which we used to be running. We will get there soon though. This is a good slew of issues to be having, it means we're so very close to where we need to be, releasing updates to the client.

Next comes the HOST. That's going to be ugly. Not that this client progress wasn't. :D

These guys are really trying so bare with them and something will help. Uninstall the game complete, empty trashcan and reinstall full client.

Oh I hope this thread doesn't come across as complaining because it isn't in any way. Its a beta client and beta's are usually a disaster lol! The more it breaks the better the end product will be.

As for my video drivers

AMD RADEON HD 7660D (ON BOARD VIDEO)

No worries Doc about it. I'm just glad I got the old client working again to continue playing.

That is video card type and version. Drivers will be like 14.7 for latest version.

Running Nvidia here - no trouble whatsoever.

Gotta say that I love the new HE modelling. Put an HE about 10 or 15m next to an EI last night and the guy actually *died*. Wow. Used to be that you'd have to almost score a direct hit with HE to get some results - doesn't seem to be an issue anymore.

New German camo for Tier2 and 3 armor and guns is great as well. Finally these units don't stick out like a sore thumb in bushes, trees and green patches.

This is the reason talk about graphic drivers came up. Could be that you are experiencing two problems

The connection issue I remember we all had in the old client like years ago, but that I think was due to something on server-side. So my two cents on this connections issue is an network problem, not related to client updates, but a CRS representative should know more.

I agree wocka.

@OP please test every installer. If we don;t find and fix it you'll be stuck when we go live. No one else is reporting this issue YET.

Sounds like a connection issue.

Also I'm going to suggest that you uninstall 1.34.9.255 before you install 1.34.10.8 next time and see if that helps anything.

Chyrenz when you do make sure you do a system shut down and restart after you uninstall and before you install the beta.

I know the first time in my excitement of getting the DL info for the beta i didn't and had to redo it to get it to work properly.

Ok finally got it working!

Took Ehstrike's advice and restarted upon uninstalling the old client. Still didn't work.

So I reinstalled the old client and made sure it was all good. Got that right.

Uninstalled again and rebooted.

Went to the folder on my comp that was still there and removed all files that the uninstall didn't get (there was 3)

That way the whole folder was empty of files and subfolders

Installed new client.

Bazinga!

I'm now online with the new client.

Hope it helps. S!

Yeah this is an install uninstall issue. You'll need to uninstall the game and manually delete everything but screenshots and cfml files from Documents and then delete the install folder and reinstall.

I need to update everyone on this since once you install 1.34.10 it doesn;t uninstall the old stuff first.

This is getting too OT for me to follw. Can I get the issue restated more clearly? Currently I have:

- Installing 1.34.10 over 1.34.9 causes issues and leaves files behind when reverting

- Cannot connect (error 10057)

Error 10057 is a failure for you to connect to the game server. Network issue. Was this resolved by a manual uninstall and reinstall?

As I posted above I tried multiple times over multiple days and kept getting the network issue. No other software on my comp had any issues with internet connection.

Once I uninstalled the old client and removed the files as described before, including the actual CRS game folder, was I able to install the new client and got it working. I had to manually delete files etc.

No connection issues at all. I think whatever files remained after the uninstall of the old client was the problem. When I didn't delete them I found that when I tried to log in my name was pre-filled on the new client.

When I removed all the files I had to input my name and found I had no issues.

DUH Gophur he clearly says it's fixed more than once when he did a full uninstall and manually deleted the cruft. Jeeze.
