Hmm. I had DirectX 11 installed when playing the old version of the game and it was fine. Are you suggesting that we need to downgrade? Or is this just for folks with XP?

I had directx 11 installed also. From my understanding you cant downgrade directx. directx11 will still be on computer but installing from the above link will make it compatable with programs needing the earlier versions

lol, so why does 1.34.9 work with DX11 and 1.34.10 not? Guess I'll give it a try

1. Went to the microsoft page, downloaded app.

2. Ran app and it says all is up to date.

3. Uninstalled wwiiol using oibit uninstaller with powerful scan checked

4. Uninstalled just fine, nothing found by powerful scan

5. Manually uninstalled the wwiiol folder in my documents

6. Downloaded latest game file from BE main site.

7. Installed and selected direct x checkbox (it did load files)

8. Rebooted computer

Everything works. (I never had the sound bug but did have CTD problems)

What app did you run from Microsoft?

When I try to install DX9c it simply says "Installation Complete. The components installed are now ready for use" without actually installing anything - which I assume means everything it was going to install was already installed.

Since there is no way to do an uninstall of DX without completely hacking your system or rebuilding it ...

No other ideas out there?

Ohm I'm pretty sure ibshots link http://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/download/details.aspx?id=35 is the best bet, it's all the DX libraries.

As to those assuming that installing the dx9c is a downgrade, it's not it simply adds dx9c to your current DX libraries.

I concur. I tried everything and all the links for DX downloads until I tried this one, now my sound is working:

1. Run install - make sure it seems like it downloaded and installed something

2. Reboot

3. Go into WWII settings and update sound selection to what is correct for you (for me is was VIA HD speaker settings, probably something different for everyone else or primary sound driver)

4. Launch WWII

FIXED!

This is exactly what happened to me - Ran a DXDiag and realised I was running DX11, went back into WW2OL settings, changed from Primary Driver (WHICH I had done before to no result), restarted the game - Sound works. And rocks.

Seriously, this process should have meant nothing, and I was just playing around in frustration. I didn't uninstall anything, or roll back anything, just reinstalled DX11 and fiddled with in game settings.

It worked for me, hope it works for you.

I had to stop my virus scanners for the above file to actually download any files. This may be problem for others too. Once I stopped my virus scanners then I was able to actually dl the files from the website. Hope this helps others !
