was hoping it would explain why I can't change key mapping without the game freezing (both online and offline). Don't want to delete my files and redo everything. Anything else to try? Or is my configuration pretty much toast?

Documents/Battleground Europe/cfml/global.calib

Go to your cfml folder and delete the global.calib file (or save it to a different place) Restart the game, it will create a new global file.

This usualy fixes the keymapper crash. That global file is the joystick axis/mouse axis deadbands etc.

Well, doesn't hang forever now - just for 5 seconds or so then CTDs. Slightly different behavior, slightly less annoying. Any other thoughts?

Yeah, that is where I did it. Server has been down for a long time - no other choices anyway.
