Axis LMG can kill A15?

Was just in a A15 Crusader MK III in Laon when my tank insta-popped. In my death screen there was an Axis LMG just firing into my side. He got the kill and I checked through a couple sorties on stats to make sure he was actually using an LMG and it wasn't just an error.

How does a tank explode from an LMG? I get that it is an in-game laser, but this makes absolutely no sense to me.

It might be some error in the kill credit system but all MG Ammo(or rifle) in this game is an AP round, I'm not sure if it has the real penetration has in real life but that would be 13mm for the 7.92mm. If that is the case, the damage and ballistic has a 5% variation of penetration for every round or 5mm not sure now , anyways behind the wheels that hull armor is just 14mm.

So in theory if the 7.92 AP round in this game has a 13mm penetration it could penetrate your tank and hit the ammo inside when the variation is greater than 13mm.

If you install warthunder, this game should have the same position of the components and crew but it also shows all the armor on each part of the tank so you can more easily know what might happen, like I just did.

Yeah in the armour schematics I've been able to find online I can see where the weakspots would be, but I wasn't able to find where the ammo rack would be inside the hull (albeit I didn't look too hard).

Naturally I wouldn't expect that to be behind the weakest point of armour. Ya learn something new.

Thanks

All Crusaders can be killed by the LMG.. the A13 is very easy to flame, the Cru2 is pretty hard and the Cru3 requires you to actually be on top of the rear deck.

You can also do it with rifles if the tanker is an idiot and lets you continue to fill his engine full of lead.

Yeah, there was a lot going on around me, but apparently the 4 blue tags around my tank didn't seem to care about the LMG shooting into me.

I really didn't expect the ammo rack to be so easily accessible by small arms fire - I'm still new to tanking and was pretty thrown/pissed off when I exploded like that from an LMG.

In real life I doubt the 7.92 rounds would still have enough energy to penetrate the outer shell and ignite it.. so it should still be consider not very realistic and kinda of a bug.
