Tested in campaign Tiger vs 57mm atg.

In a recent Ratchat on teamspeak I asked if it was possible to audit the armour penetration of all models of tank and atg. This is not a biased axis thread by the way. I only provide information that has been confirmed in game and as I am currently an axis player I provide only information about the vehicles I have used.

I am suspicious about Pz4g versus bog standard Sherman at ranges of 100m or so but I did not record those.

I am not a noob at tanking either so please do not say 'you are not doing it right!'.

I have found one US report where the 57mm atg was tested against the Panther (not the Tiger) where it was found to be able to penetrate the turret at around 300m @ 30 degree angles 'most of the time'. No data was found on trials against the Tiger.

So, the 57mm atg is a very good weapon.

Here are some reports from real action in game.

My Tiger has been killed frontally twice @ 300mm by 57mm atg (gunner killed).Flat terrain.

Once @ 380-420m by 57mm atg frontally, gunner killed. Flat terrain.

Side of turret when on higher ground (about 150m alt.) @ 827m by 57mm atg (marked atg on low grd so very accurate).

Same town, killed frontally, similar alt as previous, frontally at 708m by 57mm on low ground. Gunner killed.

Twice frontally in Netettal, flat ground, shot from spawnable depot area @ 400m approx. blown up once and gunner killed by 57mm atg frontally.

I have not included the times I was shot in the flank because that is not part of this report.

I suspect it may be possible in RL to kill a tiger very close frontally with this atg. However, at the longer distances 300m plus I am very suspicious, especially when the atg shell, although falling would have been received in the horizontal when perched on high ground.

I know that auditing all the vehicles is a huge task and I am in no way being critical of CRS. This is just for information and may help when an audit is finally completed.
