it's happened again, 2 cm brewing Sherm

I have now done this three times, personally, no anecdote.

This time I was firing FLAK 30 HE to the side of the Sherm.

It was in a duel with one of our Pz, hull down. I fired at close to 90 deg side shot, on his right hand side.

He brewed and ejected the turret.

This is the second Flak 30 kill on sherm, and I have brewed another Sherm at aprox the same distance with a IIc, se that thread.

All with HE, not Ap.

This is caused by a bug in my opinion, once may be a WTF moment, but three times....this needs to be looked at in the armor review.

(Axis player obviously, but all bugs need to be sorted.)

Edit, Of cause I have a screen dump of the AAR, I got the kill and went WTF.)

side of chassis? turret?

You said this only happens with HE?

why does this sound familiar? circa 1.14ish?

I think a training server test is in order to confirm this unequivocally.

I don't doubt what you're saying, as there are indeed leaks in the armor of many tanks that makes them brew and pop, such as LMG to rear deck of the A13 along the seam, and Churchill leaks in the front somewhere.

I say, spawn a Sherm in the training server, run a 2C over to it or a 40MM flak and record it.

Armor audits are inbound. This info will all help a ton.

Could also be that the HE event is floating again
Might be worth testing VS all rapid firing HE?

This sounds interesting, can you elaborate please, what is that?

Was not around @1.14

I have no idea if this is a bug but I have been killed in a sherman76 and standard Sherman by pak36s at distances over 300m (gunner killed).

I don't recall ever having used a pak36 against a Sherman at anything like that distance and getting a kill.

I'm not saying it should not have the penetration power as I just don't know for sure.

I got two Sherm 76 kills the other day with Pak 36.

Both clean side shots, one was way longer than 300m according to sight range, having said that we all know how accurate the Pak 36 sight is.......

I dont know the turret side armor thickness of the sherm compared to expected penetration/spall caused by the Pak 36, it can be realistic.

What's definitely not realistic is to brew a Sherm with 2cm He.

There is a ticket open regarding this.. It’s being investigated. If anyone has video showing or wishes to test and report, you can post your findings here.

Just to clairify, my PAK 36 sherm kills, I alvays aim for the turret side to get a gunner kill.

I only aim for the engine if I dont think I can get results by killing the gunner. If so I get a "smoker" wich is usefull for our armor.

I have never been able to flame a Sherm with the PAK 36 with a side shot to the engine area.

Considering that to hit a target at 100m currently i have to aim at the 800m line, that would put you right up his butt LOL
Of course considering how the to be fixed sight is at the moment, you probably had to be that close to find him in it ;)

Turret is cast though, has a different reaction to impact than plate, plate is much more um? forgiving?
So if you wack one good, close up, i guess im not surprised by spall?
Actually M4A1 is all cast hull and turret.

Ok rifleman, get over here with those sandbags in your pockets
There we go, all fixed!
