"Detect controllers" button does not work

Hey all,

Not sure if it is just me, but that button, which always performed perfectly, is not working properly since the last pacth. When I want to plug/unplug the joystick, changes don't apply. So I am being forced to restart the game to have the controllers working.

Any idea why is this happening?

Sorry if this was reported earlier, I didn't see anything after a first look.

in keymapper, when you start with stick unplugged, does it by chance flip to no joystick?

I have never unlugged the stick while playing, simply because it would be too hard to get to with the cord routing

Replicated, it's a bug. Clicking the "with joystick" doesn't help. Must have the controller plugged in prior to launching the game.

Thanks all for the replies and support.

I did that and even reinstalled the game just in case it was a local problem or a patch install fail, but it seems it is not.

Before this issue, I was able to plug and unplug any periferical element and re-read them and make them work out without the need of having them previously plugged. Always did this.

So yeah, maybe it is worth a look and fix, if posible. Thanks!

S! all

There's a similar bug with other controllers (joysticks).  Could it be the same bug?

For Windows:

Go to Control Panel then Devices and Printers.  Right click on appropriate icon.  Select "Game controller settings."  You should see a popup with "use with older programs" or "set as preferred device."  Select your stick in the box.  Click ok or accept or whatever the option is.  That should enable the game to see your controller, automatically.

Would that work?

This is referencing the ingame detect controllers button. It's ticketed. Hopefully have a fix fairly quickly.

I know it is, but in my case (and others') this was the REASON the button didn't work.  The game was unable to detect the joystick until after the setting was changed in "Devices and Printers."  Now, if it's even possible for the game code to detect the controllers in question unless that setting is changed is part of what's hopefully under investigation.  If the game can be "fixed" to detect all controllers as it used to, that's all well and good.  If it's too difficult to repair the code, and the Devices and Printers setting fixes the problem in the meantime, all the better.
