They are saying they can not remap any keys.

I am not near my pc to try removing existing cfml files to see what happens.
I know i have no problem editing my existing keymaps in game.

If simply having keymap files in the cfml folder cures issue, perhaps a small patch with generic cfml files?

Here are sgtspoons   http://sgtspoon.blogs.com/sgtspoonskeymaps.zip

Not being able to remap controls is kind of a big deal

No i gave a steam user some CFML files
The game does honor them as is, but will not allow editing in game, you can not remap outside of using notepad++

could it be a permissions issue?
a windows username issue?
?

might be the windows username issue.. there was an issue with non-english characters in folder names that would prevent the game from writing to the folder.

If a user has accented characters in their user name (computer user name not game name) it breaks the path to the cfml files and the ww2.xml.

For now the only work around is create a new computer user that does not have accented characters... ñ as example

Or...?

shift right click WW2.exe
Run As Different User

Administrator
password

Game runs, go do keymaps how you want them etc
once you are all set, exit game

Can do same with settings.exe

Now copy entire contents of c:\users\administrator\documents\battleground europe to c:\users\your user name\documents\battleground europe

That copies cfmls, calibs, and the settings xml file.

Worth a shot

would game work on indirectly calling %userprofile%\documents\battleground europe ? versus calling it literally?

My above idea proved not to work, a russian steam user tested it for me.
The game can not see the users folder when it has non english characters at all :(

Now i can think of a fast fix

Move contents of c:\users\username\battleground europe  to instead reside in c:\path to game install directory\user_profile
would work fast yes?
Could even have the patch attempt to copy existing folder if exists

yea yea i know, probably crap idea

Devs are working on it. Only immediate fix is to use the Administrator account or create a new account without those characters..

Best to fix what is known broke rather than break more trying to work around it.
