6 year player.  The game is back to huge lag issues.  I have 54 fps in Ciney.  Guy jumps from building as I empty a sub machine mag into him in mid air.  He hits ground and kills me.  A bombed out CP where I see ei approaching.  He kills me before he enters door as I am waiting.  On my death cam, he finally enters firing as I lay dead.  Come on. I am using netcode 3, wired 20mbps connection, killer net work card.  Please, fix the infantry game!  I have a 27 ms ping to Denver.

The lag crap has to end. Getting real tired of it. Its been how many years?

And the LAG favors the slow guy. So I end up dead or traded. Usually dead and he lives. And I'm the guy who has supported CRS over the years.

I don't think he does, but I seriously doubt that's the problem.

We're using code that was written almost 20 years ago. The game favors the guy with the crappiest connection, maybe because hits are registered on your client, not the server.

I always have a ping lower than 50 and I run a top end machine and it's like the ice capades out there. Even the planes are skating around, I have a video of this lagger who was basically unkillable in the sky. I watched him lag around and actually kill a 109 while he wasn't even near it. How do you fight something like that? Infantry play is, when it's close combat, the same thing.

I've been laying on the top floor of a CP then just dead. The capture bar never moved, no footsteps, no gunfire sound. On death cam there's an EI standing in front of me.

The sad fact is that we wanted more players and we got it, and in a way it's made the game much worse.

It'd be nice if WWIIOL booted players with crappy connections or high ping like EVERY OTHER GAME DOES.

And now that you've limited the playerbase to a short distance around the server what's your solution to keep the lights on?

There is that...

How to get a global gaming population in the same 24/7 server and not have it reveal latency issues?

I don't know. I fix clocks for a living.

Maybe if we revert time back to when we had a cosmic microwave background there would be less of an issue with the spaces in between the waves and signals, say, 450,000 yrs ago?

Wait.. this isn't OT...

I have to go now.

I turned Netcode3 off about a week ago and it improved the performance of the game for me. It definitely stopped the FPS dips that were freezing the game momentarily during town/city fights. I've been seeing more ice skaters and warpers lately.

Yes, I have also noticed huge lag issues. Depending on how large the battle is determing how much of a lag problem I will see. I've tried leaving netcode3 on and turning it off but have not seen improvement either way.

Yesterday I put a full grease gun clip into a rifleman at point blank range (in a cp) he shoots me, I die, then he dies a few seconds later while I'm watching from the "death cam" view.

The lag issue some are having is certainly strange, and very annoying. It also doesn't effect everyone, no matter how close or far you are from the servers.

Apart from that one patch years ago that screwed the connection for everyone, I've never had lag issues, despite being in England. I also never had people telling me that they have seen me lag.

So given that, there has to something else going on besides the speed of your internet connection, or your distance from the servers. Maybe some setting effecting certain graphics/sound or motherboard drivers.

Or possibly how your router handles certain types of traffic, or if other things on your home network effect things.

Going to be a hard one to narrow down. Only real way is to find someone having really bad lag issues and going through some testing with them to see what you can find.

Since a day of 3-4 , there is horrible lag on the server, especially in close infantry combat. I love the free month and the new things the new crew is doing for the game.

However, current lag is also making the game rather non-playable. Frame rates of < 10 ... Perhaps it's time for a server re-boot ..

Now that explains it a bit more. If you are getting frame rates under 10, then it nothing to do with lag, or your internet connection. Your PC just can't handle everything that's going on.

Now this can be for several reasons. Sometimes drivers/settings can cause good PC's to crawl and give you very low rates when you should be getting 30+.

At the moment, given the numbers in game, rendering all those players can really hit you frame rates. My first suggestion would be to turn down your visible player limit to its lowest setting and see if that improves things.

Also, this game uses your processor much more than your graphics card. If you have lots of other things running in the background when playing the game, try stopping some of them and see if that improves things.

Got 30 fps in charleroic yesterday while normally flying over a town at low alt still gives 70-150. Big towns and big numbers reduce fps significantly. i7600k here.
