Forced Despawn SOLVED

Why does the forced despawn result in a kia even if you are in your own town? I think it should result as a rtb or res if you are defending in your own town. It's not right loosing supply for being despawned especially while defending.

Actually I have seen both....KIA and RTB and no common denominator to tell what's going to happen.

OK, let me start by stating I've never had any issues with this game for all 17.5yrs of playing. Never seen any oddities on my end, never been accused of warping, being unkillable or any other such thing. I die just fine in game, maybe too much.

Now forced despawned like clockwork.  Been working on this issue all weekend. Needless to say quite frustrated.

Some info:

I7 970 running@3.8 on an Asus ROG Rampage III w/16GB of low latency ram

EXGA 1070 OC, 24" HDMI monitor, Corsair headset

256GB SSD Corsair SATA 6gb primary

1GB lan thru 5' cat6 cable into router w/Motorola docsis 3 cable modem

Think there is other info that I've dropped thru this thread.

I switched over to my Xfinity modem/router with no change. Actually seems a bit slower than the Surfboard/Linksys setup. Typical Comcast bs.

Checked all my settings, changed enough things on my pc that I screwed it up enough to require a format/reinstall (still working on that)

I'll know more once the pc is back up and running to my specs.

It's getting to the point of saying goodbye after all these yrs. I really hope it doesn't come to that, but it is an option of last resort if this can't be sorted.

(Any nostalgic ppl looking for the original cd and map that came with my preorder?)  yea still got it. LOL

You'll get it solved. Just be patient and work with Frisbone.

He's a good guy i hear.

See pinned post for new information.  We've disabled the auto-despawn as it does seem we are catching some false positives in the mix - thus we will be disabling until we figure out why.  If any of you that have been experiencing this continue to be despawned please let me know immediately, as it should not be happening anymore.  Once we figure out the reason for the false positive we'll be turning it back on again but we'll let you all know.

TYVM! I was really dreading the new campaign if I couldn't take out anything more valuable than a rifleman for fear of this happening.

Yes, ty for disabling it. Also please consider defaulting it to RTB or RES when being forcibly despawned. I really don't think supply should be penalized for being forcibly despawned.

I've been playing server games for over 25 years.

I have seen many anti-cheater systems

But this attempt to identify cheaters is the most ridiculous and baseless I have ever seen.

Other games do have similar systems, it just seemed to be a tad overzealous, it will probably be fine with a bit more tweaking and live testing.
Not sure how it can be called baseless as it's purpose is to address a cause of countless complaints in this forum, in steam forum and ingame .reports

This was not actually intended as a anti-cheat or to ID cheaters. It was/is a attempt to deal with unkillables that result from very poor communication to and or from the server to other players. It's a work in progress.

Most of the people that are unkillable most likely do not know they are unkillable, so I would not identify them all as cheaters. To ignore our most reported issue in game and leaving everything as is, would have been ridiculous.

As we continue to refine this method to deal with lag, this is what we are trying to prevent that effects both sides..

Why bother taking the time to write something like this?

You have absolutely no idea about how the code works. there's a lot of very clever people giving up their free time to improve the game for you, step up and give something back to the game rather than posting stupid things.

S! Nick!!

You do not offend me.
I like this game (paid more than 14 years ago)..
so my criticisms.
We have waited for 10 years for improvements and we are going
keep on waiting.

...but this netcode3 does not work well.

...

...Many players that you see teleporting through the game may be due to the protocol: UDP (User Datagram Protocol) which is faster but does not identify the integrity of the packets.

I think it's the UDP that the game uses, I'm not sure....

Asus ROG Rampage III

You also have an ASUS motherboard.
Do you have any of the ASUS software loaded, like the energy management engine etc?
That was the other guys issue it turned out, as it declocked the CPU to keep energy use and heat down and fan speeds low, it was somehow screwing up his timestamps or something along those lines.

Yes I do, and I run it all high performance in a full sized cooler master air flow case w/120mm and 210mm fans. Run the 3.07 proc @ 3.8 with no issues at full speed always.

I manually use regedit to unlock all 8 cores to keep them from idling.  Machine tweaked for best performance, HW and SW wise.

Been building top end gaming machines since DOS, for some background.

Just finished my format/reinstall last night.

Replaced a cable splitter with a low loss 5-2k one, ping now a tad better with no packet loss.

Not convinced I'm through this though, yet. Next is to try a cable amplifier.

Funny thing is, never had issues before, nor with anything else, nor any other game .

not quite sure if that meant yes or no about having the asus energy stuff installed, supposed it could be trying to mess with things.
That's what was messing with the other guy, but you just did a reinstall, so maybe if that stuff isnt loaded yet, try without it.

I'm not sure exactly what all the new tool looks at/for, but they found the reason on the other guys PC, so if you still have issues open up a ticket

blkfalcon, please contact frisbone so he can help you work on the issue. He is the lead developer for the game so you cant get any higher help than that. frisbone@corneredrats.com is his email

I contracted Frisbone and sent him all what he asked for and he said he got it. In the locked thread, he says only Fiambre contacted him (not true) EDIT: he did apparently reply, but I never got the email so probably got blocked by my ISP. and I got another forced despawn last night (at my other home, different CPU, different internet connection). I believe it also has an ASUS MB, so maybe the clock de-sync thing I've heard about is in play, although I've yet to see a troubleshooting guide of any sort to deal with the issue. Is this something Frisbone does with you one on one?

Edit: It is indeed an ASUS board, but there are so many settings in the BIOS that I'm afraid to guess which one is the culprit. I am off work today and will be around and in game @FRISBONE if you want to contact me when convenient.

Im not sure what you might look for in bios on an intel cpu, on an AMD there is a bios function called cool and quiet which niggles with the cpu to keep temp down and fan quiet and power use low.

What model motherboard? maybe we could look up a manual?

If you are being despawned "like clockwork" then you likely are experiencing a similar issue to Fiambre which is that you either have a rogue application modifying your internal clock OR you have a bad internal clock.  The reason why it is a problem now is because we are using the clock to determine the packet delays through the system.  If something is manipulating it then we calculate incorrect delays and you get despawned as a result.  The other issue is that since your clock is drifting you may also be identified as a speed hacker to the GMs and you might get booted eventually anyway (and in a way that is worse than an auto-despawn) so it is best to find the source of your clock issues and get them corrected.  If anyone suspects you have a drifting clock because you are "being despawned like clockwork" then go to the training server and spawn in until you get booted.  After that, spawn in and out about 10 times.  Then send me your callsign and I'll take a look at the logs and let you know if you have a drifting clock or not.

May have solved my issue,,, haven't got booted since replacing the splitter with a low latency, hi-freq coax splitter on incoming cable.

Time will tell I guess, but you never know.

Well, if it's enabled, (which I believe it is), I have no more premature despawning.

Played for awhile and everything was ok.

Ping tests show no dropped packets after changing the splitter. May still try out what an amplified no loss will do for my connection.

How far away is your router/modem from the split?

It is enabled, i got booted when microsoft decided it was time to pull down updates on everything.
Not games fault.

About 3-4' I'd say.

Seems to have also helped cure random issues with my tv and phone service that I was periodically having.
