Mac download bug (again) and wrong link on Getting Started page

Yesterday, I logged on, looking for some fun on a Friday night. The game told me to update to the newest version, and then refused to only download the patch (as always), so I re-downloaded the whole game again (as always), wasting an hour of my time, so I was only able to try and play again today.

I tried to log on again, but realised that the link provided on the Getting Started page for the whole game was only for the obsolete (1.35.9.8) version instead of the new (1.35.10) version. So not only has this download bug wasted my time once, but this failure to update the link on the page will waste it again.

I am exasperated by this bug, and that no attention seems to have been given to to fixing it, even though I have pointed this issue out at least twice before, not to mention other Mac users.

I hope to have a response by a developer soon, and some sort of explanation.

new auto updating seems to have worked for me on my Mac (and have tested it multiple times). I am not sure what is happening in your specific case though.

As for the updating process, the Mac does not have a patching system currently. It always downloads the entire app. I can assure you that the current devs hate the updating process as much as you do. A complete rewrite is being worked on but changing it is extensive work and I have no idea when it will be complete.

As for the bad link, sorry that happened. Was this on the main webpage or a link provided to you from the updater?

A couple of things to note:

1. We don't have MAC patches yet (never had).  We have an auto-patch, but it is for the full download.  So you were going to wait the full period no matter what.

2. The link was updated but I suspect you had a cached page that took you to the old link.  If a page refresh doesn't correct it, clear your cache.

3. I see that you attempted to download the game at almost the exact time that we went live and perhaps even before we had finished the update preparations.  The mac is not as intelligent as the PC when it comes to preventing you from getting in when the system has not been fully updated (something we are working on) so I think its a simple matter of you launched just at the wrong time when the system was partially updated.  Don't despair - I only suggest that if it happens to you - wait until you see the forum post indicating that the new version is online before you attempt to launch the game again.

Mac users do have unique issues but we are working on improving things on that side.

I had the same problem with the patch: Patch system did the full download, but when starting the game it just started to download again.

Also finding the download link is always not obvious on the website.

Actually we used to have patching for the Mac and in terms of the longevity of this Mac porting of the game, we had the ability to patch the Mac client a whole hell of a lot longer than we have had to download the whole client.  Re downloading the Mac game client is realitively a new thing - mb 4 years old now.

I stand corrected.  Am only a recent Mac user (last 3 years) and my entire experience has been without.  Sorry for your pain - we'll work on it.  ;)

Rgr that, sorry also caused I reread my response and it sounded kinda ugly. Was not my intent if it came across that way.
