6-10 rnds HE on front of deployed pak36 it would not die. No point having HE if it doesnt do what it is supposed to.

Is this endemic or just a once off ??

Probably didn't penetrate the gun shield.
It's very low velocity HE high angle
And HE audit isnt in yet, which might give a bit better chance

So would the 88mm HE that ground burst 2 inches away from the infantry man who kept running like nothing happened.
And the SC250 that landed beside his sandbags would have probably turned him into a meat bag of crumpled people pieces

Since no HE has that kind of concussive blast overpressure etc effect modeled as of yet, it's even across the board.

Didnt have any problem killing you though :)

May 07 21:57 black5 (Pz III F)
May 07 22:04 black5 (Pz III F)

Although it did take an extraordinary amount of rounds to kill them, (dodgy connection ?)

And back to the original problem....If the all the HE audit is going to do is raise the fragment count, then I dont see this being solved and that goes for all HE not just this particular incident.

Or simply killed the gun crew behind the shield via concussive effect and flame-cloud wrapping around it.

I do hope that HE has a caliber-related small volume within which soft target destruction occurs, independent of fragment throw.

If I as an infantryman am standing close behind a brick wall and a 75mm HE shell hits the opposite side, the wall may stop all the fragments from reaching me. I however will have the fragmented wall itself projected into my body, and quite likely I'll be killed.

If I as an infantryman am hiding behind a boulder or substantial log and a 75mm HE shell hits the opposite side, fragments won't get me, but I'll be enveloped in the concussion/flame cloud from the shell explosion and quite likely killed.

For 75mm HE, I'd guess the concussion/flame-cloud radius would be about a meter. @scotsmanof course could speak to that authoritatively.
