Game SOUND

This has been getting increasingly annoying. Ever since there was a change in the game (at least a year ago)

Lets say I am tracking a TRUCK via sound. As it gets closer I should be able to see it. But the unfortunate thing is, it is not where the sound is. Usually 45 degrees off from where the sound says it is.  I have a great headset (Razer Kraken 7.1 Chroma).  I have tried some different sound settings and usually lose the sound totally.  At a loss for what to do.

I have a similar problem.  My speaker sound is 90 def off of my headset sound.  Not sure why.

How are you running the headset?
As simple stereo or the virtual 7.1?

May have something to do with how it does the surround virtualization?

what does it do if you run in plain old analog stereo?

So I take it that all your in game sounds are 45 degrees off?

And just to confirm that the surround sound works fine in other games?

I run a 7.1 setup and the sound come from where you expect it, so it isn't just an issue with the game.

IT can be a mismatch between the headphone driver software, the windows speaker setup & and the game settings.

First thing to check is that you have the same sound device selected in both the external game setting program and the preferences within the game. If these were different you could get very odd things,

Even if they are the same, just try reselecting them and saving the settings, then try spawning in as an infantry off line and drop a smoke grenade in front of you, then rotate around a full 360 degrees. You should hear the sound of the grenade move around your headset.

I'd also like to point out that ww2ol is one of the few reamining programs, that's not able to cope with switching sound devices while running. I hope that gets fixed with the work on 64bit.

On the other hand this allows you to keep ww2ol on headsets while you watch youtube with speakers ;)

This started with just plain old sound on my head set.

Just recently went 7.1 with Dolby running it. Not much of an improvement.

I think the game sound is the problem.
