Death Spiral, Directors Cut

We all die from time to time. In real-life we apparently get a "bright light" experience ... in-game, you get a ten second replay of your own stupidity, in third-person view. I think this was brought-in to provide the evidence that the game didn't fail, but that someone (Now seen running away from the scene of the crime) just knifed you.

I don't remember when it began, but these death spirals sometimes take much more than ten-seconds. It now goes something like this ...

- Your screen begins to grow dark.

- Realizing you've been killed, you hit escape to de-spawn. Normally that would take you straight to death-spiral. But instead, the playback lags for ten to fifteen seconds ...

- Next, actual death-spiral plays. But it doesn't end after ten seconds ... it just keeps going round after the 10 second countdown timer runs out .... time for this is variable, but usually lasts ten to fifteen seconds ...

- Finally, you are at your AAR.

Total time 30 - 40 seconds.

Doesn't happen always ... but frequently. Seems more frequent when playing as armour.

Another element of the original concept was that you were less able to quickly despawn and get an rtb before getting killed in a situation where death had become certain, but had not yet actually occurred. Rewards killer with his credit where credit really is due.

I don't think this is a feature, it seems more like a bug to me. Certainly, ten seconds in the throws of death is adequate in the game. Especially for as often as it happens.

My rig: i7 quad core, 16Gb DDR3 RAM, dual 780's, solid 300 Mb/sec connection. Ping to game server averages 35-40ms. 1ms response time samsung monitor, good cables, etc ...  Win 7, 64 bit. (No lag in anything else ...).

Finally, context: Frequent 85-90 second side-lock. Followed by spawn delay, and now extended death-spiral. I feel like I spend a lot of time "in-game" not able to do anything lately......
