xb360 controller and discord hotkeys not working when in game

I feel like they are related, but when I have been in game I've been trying to get my controller to work, it only dawned on me that i couldn't use my discord mute mic hotkey either and neither problem i've ever had before.

My controller is showing up in control panel and works fine in other games so I know the problem is in/around WWIIOL itself.

In regards to discord hotkeys it's as soon as I'm focused on the fullscreen WWIIOL window the hot keys no longer work, but if I alt-tab out they instantly work as they should.

Anyone got any suggestions?
