Tiger Armor Leak - Video with Proof

A lot of axis players have been getting killed lately by spits/p38s by shooting into the commander hatch and blowing up the tank. It's driving a number of them to quit playing, especially as more allies find out about the leak.

I show the leak in this video. The tiger is the only closed-turret tank in game that you can shoot into the hatch and kill the other crew members. The stugs, other panzers, shermans, churchills, etc. you can only kill the commander. I sampled trying to kill some of these in the video.

In fact, you can even actually fall into the tiger hatch with inf and blow it up, which I demonstrate in the video.

Please either make all tanks able to be killed this way, or fix the tiger skin/armor/whatever leak that allows this to be done, because it's not very hard to do with any plane that has a cannon and is getting to be a more and more common tactic. I'm not sure who is doing the QA nowadays, but please tag them in this post so it can be ticketed.

Thanks,

@vongters @daokoth1 @XOOM@OLDZEKE@B2K@MWHITMAN@OHM

One person alone has 11 tiger kills with a P38 this map. Furthermore, JUST the French P38 and SpitX alone have 769 kills on tigers in prior campaigns. The American P38 had another 30 something tiger kills. Keep in mind these planes have no bombs. If you look at 190 or 109 (non-bomber versions) kills on shermans or churchills in previous maps, all are around 10 or less, or none at all. You can also see that planes have far less kills on stugs than tigers, and there are a lot more stugs. All of this combined reinforces my original point. If you want more proof, I'll blow up some tigers with planes on the training server, but it's pretty obvious at this point. @undercova

all kinds of EAs including hurricane and h75 can kill the tiger and for my experience even with closed hatch.

i got strafed for years by all sort of EAs ... with cannons and MGs ... and never anything happened except commander out ... even in Tiger (232 and 2c not included)

but apparently now (for a few campaigns) it is possible to strafe almost any tank and blow them up or kill all crew. even with hatch closed.

so what did change ???

3n gets sploded by ea easily aswell, not sure if they penetrate the engine deck or just shoot in the same was as VS tiger but you instantly explode that's all I know

Yikes, hopefully they fix that asap.

It's annoying that the open top things can't have nades thrown in.

First off, you can kill any german tank with its hatch open and i know ive been killed MANY times by 190s shooting down my hatch.

I know myself and halsey have only exploded tigers with the hatch open, we were actually having this discussion while trying to kill tigers with the hatch closed in zee last night, Luckly i had bombs

That first video shows how broken the air game is. You pull full stick back to clear the ground by like 2 feet and you're stamina bar went down by only a millimetre without even a proper blackout.

Not to mention how ridiculously manoeuvrable that DB7/HAVOC/A20 airframe is in this game.

So just like the stuka then?

I'll do some testing in intermission with tanks on both sides and see what can and can't be killed by planes through hatch since people claiming most tanks in both sides its possible.

They should patch the tiger glitch where it can killed by small arms through the hatch at least then, since the video shows you can't do it on other closed turret tanks. Or make it possible on all closed turret tanks so it's fair.  I'm sure that would take forever to do, so the easiest solution is to just fix the tiger so all tanks are consistent in that regard.

Also, it looks like close air support at night.

If planes can function past area bombing towns at night, they should just eliminate night.

Few maps ago. I think I posted about it at the time, but it wasn't in the bug section so it got overlooked

Yep, ground targets (units, not buildings); should not render at night for aircraft.

Then, be kinda cool if all other night vis ranges were cut in half maybe?

Impossibru, oldzeke ran tiger through the leak test tool when undercova mentioned rifle could kill it and the verdict was the tiger was leak proof

I'm pretty torn on this one. While I prefer flying during the day, I like the fact that we have a day/night cycle. It just adds to the feel of an ongoing conflict for me.

Night used to be pitch black way back when. It was so dark that air-ops were pretty much useless. Made the dedicated flyers log off/go AFK/whatever. Sure: In a "perfect" world all these folks would switch to ground ops, but there are quite a few guys who only want to fly in this game - and that's perfectly fine.

The current "night" is more like dusk or dawn, even at midnight. It's hardly realistic, since you can still be pretty effective in the air, even without cranking up your monitor's and/or GPU's gamma. That's certainly not how it was/is in real life. I mean... there's a reason why both sides had dedicated night fighters and why Germany for example invested heavily in infrastructure to support those night-fighters and guide them to their targets.

I'm not sure if anything can be done WRT night fighting - even if you do return to the pitch-black night of old, I would only have to push a couple of buttons on my monitor to brighten things up quite substantially, so ... :/
