I downloaded the new patch at startup as usual, but about 80% thru the install, it stops, and i get a corrupted file error notice. the third go around i finally un-installed the game, and tried the full download method, which has worked in the past. This time, after a successful download, it doesn't give me the option of where to put the files. I have to load it to my D: partition due to the size. is there another way to select the destination drive?

I just installed it and it does ask if you want to change location. I had to put it in D drive as well.

Tried again without success. I get the small window that says "WWIIOL SFX Distribution Package" and below that "Install WWII_Online_1-38-1-1" with a "yes" and "No" button select. I press "yes", it starts to load, gets to about 50% and I get the "Not enough space on the disk" message.

Have you checked how much available space you have on your hard drives? It is a 2 gig download and would even temporarily use about 6 gig as part of the install. You could also place the downloaded file into a spot on your D drive and run from there . Try cleaning out you “recycle” and that should give you some more space. There is also a spot in setting that will clean up your drives.

The installer is a multi step process.

1. download the installer package. It should be ale to be placed anywhere there is sufficient disk space. Alas the game is getting bigger which has caused issues in itself.

2. when you run the downloaded installer package which in reality is a compressed file to reduce the download file size, answering "yes" to the prompt, unpacks the "actual installer" (which IS larger than the downloaded file) into your "system temp directory". If where ever you have the system temp directory located on your system (typically somewhere on the c: drive) is space limited the unpacking can fail with a disk full error.

3. once the actual installer is unpacked from the downloaded file, the installer runs and installs the game following the usual process which does include a prompt to place the game in a location other than on the  C:\Program Files\CRS\WWIIOnline  (default location). Be aware changing the install location HAS caused issues with other players that have placed the game somewhere else.

4. once the installer completes the large temporary files are deleted, leaving the downloaded installer package in place for potential later use. You can delete the downloaded installer package at your option.

The very short consideration is there MUST be sufficient disk space to contain the temporary files, usually contained in the system temp folder.

Cheers.

Hey James and Terry, thanks for the reply to this. The problem was lack of space on C: drive. I got in and just deleted a bunch of files and programs I don't run anymore, and was able to load the game successfully. Even though I was going to locate the game in D:, there evidently has to be enough room on C: to access files and start the install process. I just didn't have that space available in C:. All good now and I should be in game tonight!
