PlayGATE isn't installed anymore' date=' it's just a .exe in the BE folder.[/quote']

Does playgate not work when you start?...if it works then it has to be installed. Why would there be stickies if there were no playgate???

Battleground Europe Launcher has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

NEWIE!

Quit making me run around for this! =]

OK from now on let's handle this issue here.

I need you to email me the log. you know where I am. I need to know what you are doing that is non standard. Non default location, what have you. I also want a complete dxdiag. Also send me a saved registry just for kicks.

Seriously, there is nothing new going on here. Same old installer only difference is new playgate gets installed right alongside the game executables.

Have you run Windows update recently? Could be a missing .net or something that we haven't run across. I've tested this on vanilla WinXP SP3 (updated) virtual machines and it runs fine. There's got to be some mojo going on.

Battleground Europe Launcher has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Just tried to install 1.30beta and I'm getting the same thing. After the installer finishes its job, the setting window opens, and after closing it I get the Windows error dialog about the launcher encountering a problem. Same thing when I try from both the start menu or right out of the BE Test folder.

I'm running on an AMD Athlon XP 3200+ (2.2Ghz, 32bit single core ) with XP SP3 and 2GB ram. I even tried uninstalling everything WW2OL related ( old beta version, live game, playgate entries, etc ), still the same.

What version of .net are you running?

What version of .net are you running?

In %systemroo%\Microsoft.NET\Framework there's the following folders:

v1.0.3705

v1.1.4322

v2.0.50727

v3.0

v3.5

Checking windows update shows no missing updates, so all high priority and optional software patches are installed.

I know it sounds odd, but the following has been reported to fix a lot of "has encountered a problem and needs to close." errors:

1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.

2. Click Appearance and Themes.

3. Click Display.

4. On the Settings tab, click Advanced.

5. On the Troubleshoot tab, move the Hardware acceleration slider control to the third position (from the left), and then click OK.

Note The following message is the description for this position:

Disable all DirectDraw and Direct3D accelerations, as well as all cursor and advanced drawing accelerations. Use this setting to correct severe problems with DirectX accelerated applications.

6. Click OK to close the Display Properties dialog box.

Hmm. Proabably not DirectX related X but a good thing to try anyway.

Question is, why won't playgate launch for you...

We don't register it or anything.

Are you placing it in a non default directory on install?

Are you placing it in a non default directory on install?

It's installing into "C:\Program Files\CRS\Battleground Europe TEST", I've tried uninstalling everything game related ( 1.29, 1.30 beta, and playgate ) and deleting any old files laying around ( there were some old bits under "C:\Playnet" ), then installing 1.30.0.18 and it still comes up.

Here's the error signature from the crash dialog:

AppName: playgate.exe AppVer: 0.1.1.9 ModName: playgate.exe

ModVer: 0.1.1.9 Offset: 00012fff

The detail error report screen says the offending address is 0x412fff, and playgate.exe starts at 0x400000, so playgate's barely getting off the ground when it goes poof.

Launching the game offline with ww2.exe works.

Hey, I get the same problem too! ;)

I have WinXP SP2 (I do not think it was auto updated).

I DO have a AMD Athelon 2400 CPU, which is the common thread, but it would be weird if thats the cause.

Hmm if that is the common thread I can take a look at that..if I can find one of those around here.

It might be a compiler error in PlayGATE. I'll get Martini to comment on it as well. Kfsone wrote it but he's not a client guy.

"I have WinXP SP2"

Run auto update now. Get your other drivers updated as well.

For everyone experiencing this error I need a short dxdiag.

Generally, the important info is in the System Information, Display Devices, Sound Devices and System Devices sections. Everything else can be left out.

Hmm. Maybe this is an AMD issue. We probably compile it with an Intel compiler. Dunno. I'll have to get more info to the coders.

Consider this critical for release.

mld,

When I see this "Driver Date/Size: 9/29/2007 03:06:18, 268800 bytes" it tells me that there are deeper problems.

http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Legacy/Pages/radeonaiw_xp.aspx?type=2.4.1&product=2.4.1.3.6%E2%8C%A9=English' rel="external nofollow">

Go here for video drivers and install them.

I don;t know what your mobo is but might look for those too. This is probably not the issue but if it is all on AMD chips then we're probably going to find a driver solution as well.

It seems like the reports are folks with earlier AMD cpus without SSE2, maybe playgate.exe is getting built using SSE2 by mistake?

Gopher, I updated ATI driver my MB is a Gigabite 700vt600p RZ and all drivers are up to date. I have experienced this problem for 2 weeks now and really am just about to leave for good. I was playing the night you guys killed the old beta playgate f19 fix, I crashed with it when it went and have not been able to get on since. This is a game issue nothing with my system. Please, I have friends and squad mates, I am CO after all and I can't even do my job in game.....come on....lets stop playing with this and get it fixed. What do you need from me tell me I will try my best to get it to you.

Mldched

You can still use the old playgate afaik. I do.

Reinstall the live game to get live access if you lost it.
