Close other thread due to age.

If you are getting a persistent Crash to Desktop every time, or nearly every time, you attempt to spawn, we would like to get some information to help us find this bug and fix it.

1) What is your Operation System?

2) What is your CPU?

3) How much system RAM do you have?

4) What is your Graphics/Video Card?

4a) How much video RAM does it have?

4b) Are the Drivers up to date?

5) Does this happen Online AND Offline?

6) Does it happen for all unit types? Didnt tried planes or boats but im pretty

* Infantry:

* Armor/Trucks:

* Aircraft:

* Ships:

7) Does it happen at all locations? Mostly right at spawn in or shortly thereafter.

1) Window Vista 32-bit

2) Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 @2.40GHz

3) 3G

4) Geforce 8800 GTX

4a)768mb

4b) Yes

5) Didnt tried offline

6)Happenned with tanks and infantry, didnt play with planes and boats in a while tbh.

7) It happens each 2-3 sorties, during the spwn or the despwn

Here's my last error log :

Hi,

If you click on Start and then go to the Run Command box and enter

dxdiag

and then press enter. On the main screen of the Directx Diagnostic screen you will see some of your systems specs.

If you need advanced specs you can choose the save all information button and save all the details in a text file.

There was a bug like this in the first release of 1.29 (may have been 1.28, damn you beer). Couldn't find the post through forum search, but after 30-something sorties game dropped to desktop while spawning in.

Just putting in my 2 cents on my CTD's so far.

So far only 3 CTD's, 2 as i despawned from an air mission both KIA (my only 2 air missions so far didnt want to try for a 3rd). 3rd was as i clicked enter world on ground.

Ive never had a CTD ever before 1.31 since i joined in mid 2008.

BTW kickass patch CRS

I'm consistently CTD'ing on despawn... not on every despawn, but my only CTDs are on despawn... 3 in a couple hours.

Sorry Gophur,

1) Win 7 Ultimate (64-bit)

2) Intel Core 2 Extreme X9650 @ 3Ghz

3) 4GB

4) GeForce 9800GT x2 in SLi Mode - Running in Single Monitor Performance Mode

4a) 2286MB total Memory (combined)

4b) 197.45 (latest)

5) Can't test ... Brigades/Missions are Online Only ... Can change towns OK offline

6) Only tested :

* Infantry (ctd)

* Trucks (ctd)

7) Any switch in town or brigade (same town) will cause instant CTD ...

Missions: I can _sometimes_ switch mission (same brigade, same town) but two or three swaps will cause CTD.

Unit Type: I can _sometimes_ switch unit type (e.g. rifle for smg) but two or three swaps will cause CTD.

Cheers.

Have you all tried the new low memory option (ingame preferences)? Does it help?

The low mem option cured my CTDs (at least brought the level back to once in a great while rather than nearly every sortie)

Did a bit of testing/checking of the game's memory usage.

Without "Low Memory" Option

* Game Loads up (to Map Screen) at 790MB RAM in Use (as in, used by WWIIOL)

* Load first sorty and it goes up to just over 1300MB used.

* Despawn and it stays at just over 1300MB.

* Each sorty from there (most I ever made was 3 more) adds a little bit until at around 1380MB it will CTD.

(On CTD my system reported over 1.5GB of available memory).

WITH "Low Memory Option"

I was able to get in 6 sorties in a row (a record!). ALL were on the same mission though (but with slightly different unit types).

Memory Usage was almost exactly the same as above, BUT, with "Low Memory" it got up to 1450MB in use. I had to log from the game before I CTD'd (which, to be honest, is a massive improvement).

I will do some more "testing" tomorrow. But it seems that low-memory does improve things for me. Or at least it did this evening. I noticed no loss of frame-rate or other "downside". (Your mileage may vary)

All low memory does is not preload a bunch of things that you will likely need to load later.

Well, I've been testing in on 1.31.1.1 beta and it looks like it stills happening. Altough, now its really only when i switch to another mission that it happens. I'll continu testing for a while and I'll post in gophur's thread.
